I haven't been on here in the past month or so and I have missed reading and seeing sweet pictures of everyones babies.

It's been a very difficult month to say the least.  I lost a friend to cancer at 38 years old and my Dad is also battling colon cancer and just this past Sunday our area was hit with a devastating line of tornados.  My oldest step son lost his home but he was at work at the time it came through and I'm so thankful for that.  We have water damage but nothing that can't be fixed.  Our University was hit directly along with so many houses, apartments and businesses.  The shelters are running over with displaced animals and it's so sad.  Some were outside when the storm hit out of nowhere and some were in homes that were completely destroyed.

All my babies are fine although we had no time to prepare.  It's so scary that something that deadly can be on you before you ever even know it.  I have friends and family who were not as lucky as we were.

I'm looking forward to cleaning up and moving on and getting back to a normal life.  Hope you all are doing well and I'm looking forward to seeing some great pictures and reading good stories from TCS again.

You've been put through the wringer. I'm so sorry, but I'm truly glad that you're OK, the cats are OK, and that your son is OK. My condolences about your friend and I will keep your dad in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry for what you have been through. :hugs: Someone that I went to high school with lives in your area and has been posting pics on Facebook. His daughter goes to USM and thankfully she is OK.

Thank you guys so much
Kind words mean so much at times like this and they are appreciated more than you know!

Karen, I'm so glad your friends daughter is ok.  USM was out on Mardi Gras break so the campus was essentially empty except for some personnel and a few students.  Most students would have been back in the dorms had they not been on break.  Injuries and even deaths would have been much higher.  We are no strangers to tornados here but ones of this magnitude don't happen often and let alone hit such a large city/university.

We were in Atlanta in 2008 when a tornado hit downtown Atlanta directly and hit the Georgia Dome where we were at watching the SEC basketball championship.  We had Ryan with us and he was only 2 years old.  I can remember crouching over him to protect him from debris and not even having the time to feel afraid.  It had hit before we even knew what was happening and was over just as quick.  I guess you just never know what can happen.

I really would take our blizzards over a tornado any day. :( We had a small tornado touch down not far and that was terrifying, never mind a large one.
