My 5 month old kitten received blood work and the very next day she was dragging her hind leg and about 2 days later both legs were dragging.  I was wondering if anyone has heard of a vet accidentially hitting the sciatic nerve and causing this problem.  I asked the receptionist in the office if this is possible and she said its a very slim chance but only one leg would be affected not both but a very slim chance.   Has anyone gone thru this or knows if this could happen

I read your previous thread about your little guy, and was hoping he was improving by now
.  Honestly, I thought they took blood from their arms or legs rather from where they might hit a nerve.  To hit the sciatic nerve, wouldn't they have to go in thru their backs or abdomens?  Seems like whenever they've returned our "kids" back from taking the blood draw, their front legs have been a little damp from the alcohol
.

Even if they did hit it, wouldn't it recover with time?  Is he not getting any better?  It DOES seem awfully coincidental that this happened right after the Vet visit, but I have never heard of this happening before.

She is going to the vet today for xray and possibly blood work.  I am terrified about her going thru this.  I questioned the vets office yesterday and they said its very unlikely to hit a nerve but a very slim chance its possible>  Wish me luck.  I doubt the xrays will show anything but hopefully they see something that could be causing this

Sad to say we had to put my 5 1/2 month old to rest.  Very sad and heart broken
