I have a prescription of Prednisolone that I got from my primary vet, but the one they gave us from the vet hospital is a different shape - which they said signified a different manufacturer.  So.. is it safe to give her some of the one and then switch to the other, or is it important to stick with the same manufacturer?  I know that despite what they would have us believe, pills are not always the exact same formula from different manufacturers.  I would really like to give her the ones from my vet, they're round and I think easier for her to swallow, and I know they helped her before when she was on them - but DH is insisting she take the ones from the Vet hospital.  They are the same strength.  I'll call and ask the vet, but thought I'd see if I could get some information from here first.

I have both shapes too from my vet. One, the elongated pill, was an older prescription, the round pill was a newer prescription. He said to use up the older prescription first. No problem whatsoever in using either/or. So, I think it would make no difference at all which ones you give. :)

Thank you!!  Haven't had a chance to call the vet yet, but the one I got from her origianlly are round and these new one from the hospital are elongated.  I couldn't find a picture of them on any web site in that shape, which concerned me.

It is probably OK, but certainly sensible to use the older tablets first.  The amount of active ingredient should be the same in the prescribed dose.
