There's an outdoor cat that roams my neighborhood. When the weather started getting cold, we decided to let the cat out of fear that he would get sick or hurt or something. When we let him in, we noticed that he has quite a large wound on his side that often oozes a clear liquid. He also has a few spots in his coat where the fur is kind of bare. We're concerned if he is okay, if we should take him to a shelter because his owners obviously aren't taking good care of him. If you are aware of what might be wrong with this poor kitty please let me know! We're very worried about him.

Here are pictures of his wound, his bald spot, and an obvious boo-boo he has on his paw :(

Thank you for wanting to protect this little one!  As to the wound on his side, the picture looks awful, but it's hard to really tell just how big it is from a picture.  How large would you say it is?  I think oozing a clear liquid is better than something like puss, but I am hoping someone who has treated open wounds like that will hop on here soon to give their opinion.

As far as the bald spot...it could be that he has an ear infection or waxy build-up in that ear so is scratching more than usual
.  Or do you see any little red bumps or anything in that area to indicate a cause for itching?

As to the paw, it almost looks to me from the picture that one of his claws has grown into the pad.  Am I mistaken?  If I am seeing that correctly, IMHO, that is what may need the most attention (unless that open wound on his side is really large)

So...I'm thinking a Vet visit is in order.  Whether or not you are willing (or able) to pay for that is the issue, I'm guessing.  Do you have shelters where you live who would take him in and treat him vs put him down?  OR, do you know who his owners are?  Maybe they are unaware of these wounds and would take him in if they knew?

for this little one.

BTW, are you familiar with the use of Colloidal Silver for wounds?  That might help with that open wound.
