I started a post a few days ago about giving my poor anxious cat valium because we are moving this weekend. I am home today, I ended up not getting called to work, so I *finally* had time to start Cleo on valium when I am home to make sure she's ok.

I read all the stuff on the forums on various ways to give cats a pill, and was prepared to hold her and stuff it in her mouth. (She hates pills, foams at the mouth, scratches, bites, all that when she usually has to take them.)

I figured I'd try something first. She LOVES turkey, so I gave her a few little bites, and then wrapped turkey around a pill. SHE ATE IT!!! OH MY GOSH!! Then she looked at me for more!

Wow! Now we just have to wait and see how it effects her...

For some reason, my kitties can always tell when there is a pill in food. You are so lucky! Good luck with the move.

LOL.Mine too.I have a few that will eat some canned cat food with a pill in it,but a couple of them will eat all around the pill, even lick it off the pill, but will NOT get the pill in their mouth at all.
Don't know how they always seem to know when it's in there, but somehow they do.

We lucked out! I ran a search to find this thread because I was prepared to have to use a pill gun to administer our Zoey's thyroid meds and wanted a refresher course in doing it the right way. I saw this post and decided to try a more stealthy pilling method first.

Three little raw meat "meatballs" later, she has happily gulped down the first three doses. Our Monte has been jealous of Zoey's "treat" each time, so we make him a decoy meatball to eat when she gets her pill. We are VERY relieved that it is working so well, since we know what trauma and drama has always attended pilling her before! No more hiding, trembling and discomfort!!!

We have de-worming pills for me and my fiance's furcuties, and while we have to hold NaNa down and get attacked, Luc takes it in a treat. Why oh why can't NaNa be more sensible?
