If you could spend a day with anybody from history, who would it be - and why?

For me it would be Abraham Lincoln. I was always fascinated by the man and read books about him.

One book (I think by Irving Stone) -- I think it was called "Love is Eternal". Anyway, they made mention of the fact that Lincoln engraved the words "Love is Eternal" on Mary Todd Lincoln's wedding ring. I read this book right before we got married and it left such an impression on me that I had the same words engraved on the ring I was married in.

I'm really anxious to see the movie "Lincoln". Since we hate to go to movie theatres I'll probably wait until it is available on Comcast's On Demand pay menu.

Good question!

For me it would have to be Adi Shankaracharya (788-820).

He was one of the great yogis with a philosophy that helped unite people in a time when bigotry and chaos was everywhere.

I would love to spend a day with St. Francis of Assisi considering that he's my role model.

John Adams, one of our Founding Fathers, and, I think, a much-underrated one.

Kookycats--Lincoln is fascinating, but, with his bouts of depression, I didn't know if I'd want to spend a day with Abe! :-)  Then on the other hand, maybe I could use my sense of humor to cheer him up! LOL

Richard III of Britain has fascinated me since I was in grade school (and yes, I'm thrilled that they've found his grave and identified his remains), so he'd be my choice. There are so many mysteries surrounding his reign, including why he had Hastings executed and why Elizabeth Woodville came out of sanctuary only to be later locked up by Henry VII.
