Hi Cat lovers! Please help any info much appreciated!
My 5 month old kitten Nimbus appears to ' 'hang on' by this I mean he won't go to the litter until prompted i.e placed in his tray, or he hears the kitchen tap/running water, what I want to know is: is he okay? He doesn't mind his litter tray as at first he didn't like it and would go else where until I changed it up a bit e.g more litter, still not good enough so I made the sides lower - no good. So I made them higher perfect he likes it and goes there, but he could 'hang on' all day and I'm worried, especially because his tummy gets so bloated (it goes down once he's 'gone') am I being paranoid? Cheers

hmmm.  Maybe it's not so much the box he doesn't like, but the actual litter itself
.  Have you tried changing that too?  Some cats are very particular to what they put their little tootsies in, and I can't really blame them.  For instance, some of it is very perfumy, some of it is unscented, some, some is like walking on sand, some is like walking on little pieces of gravel, some like shredded newspaper.  And some smells like urine after just a few uses.

Other than that, not sure what the issue might be.  If you've already switched litter and it's still happening,  then I'm not sure what the issue he.  Seems most unusual to me.  I would think he would "go" when he was ready, but you say he will go with no problem when you set him in the box, so it's not  like he's blocked or anything?

Yes I have changed the litter many times because at the start he was quite fussy, now I have the litter right. It is unusual because he hangs on sort of like a child, it doesn't bother me it's just I don't want him to be in pain or anything like that, when he hears a tap (and he's hanging on) he will rush to the litter like he's busting! It is strange
