Hershey Rose was running around the fields of Denver before being trapped last July. I adopted her Sept 15th. This morning, less than 5 months after bringing her home to San Diego, she graciously allowed me to pet her all over and give her her first belly rub. Considering I could not even touch her at that time, and have now gained her trust (and hopefully some of her love), this will be a special Valentine's Day for both of us. Thank you to all of you who helped us on this journey, taught me how to prepare and feed her raw food (which she loves and is thriving on), helped me take proper care of her, and had the patience to put up with all my questions. And a BIG thank you to all of you feral lovers, because without folk like you, these cats have little chance of survival or ever knowing the love a human has to offer. They would have to try to seek whatever shelter they could find; they would never know the joy of a cozy spot in front of the fireplace, the comfort of a humans lap, the gentleness of a kind pet on the head. Hershey Rose has completely adapted to her forever home, and while she and Minja still chase each other all over the house and have hissy fits constantly, they never really get physical. I am certain with enough patience, love, Feliway, Jackson Galaxy essences, and time outs they will come to appreciate each other. Today is the first day Minja sat on the back of my chair while I am typing this, and Hershey Rose sat on her window perch, less than 3 feet away. We are making progress. Even slow progress is still progress.
