Hi Everyone

So ALOT has happened the past 2 days and I'm kiinda shook up right now. The pest control guy reported us to housing for having 2 cats (only allowed 1 pet per lease)--- anyway we basically had 3 days to get rid of one cat. The logical choice is my little BANDIT because Smokie is

A) Older

B) Not in the best health, needs more TLC, has more vet bills and needs higher quality senior food, etc...

C) The roost ruler as he has seniority....

The GOOD news is, one of my good friends just moved here from Oklahoma a while ago, and she is wanting a cat- she loves Bandit and has spent loads of time with him at my house!! So I know he will be going to a great home..

I'm going to miss him, but I can't risk getting evicted either :(

I guess you really had no choice.  I wonder how the pest control group found out about the two kitties.  It was a really lucky break that someone you know wanted Bandit.  I hope they don't miss each other too much tho.

The thing is, I lock bandit in the bathroom- they have NEVER sprayed in the bathroom- until Wednesday...... hope smokie doesn't grieve too bad, they are like best friends. :(

She is certainly getting a good deal. A Cat, Carrier, Litter Box, Bag of Litter, Box of Food, Treats, Toys, Blanket, Collar/Tags, and a bed...

Wow I had more then that in apartment and the maintence staff was cool and never said anything.  Everyone there knew I had 3 cats at least.  How sad a PEST guy would say something.  I thought someone was home all the time?  I have hid cats in bedroom from a strictly one cat allowing landlord years ago.

You had mentioned this issue with 2 cats in past haven't you?

Yeah... but this time it was a surprise inspection too, he was atmy neighbors which is when I locked him in the bathroom..

The pest control guys are contracted, and it is in their contract to report extra pets Because we al know "Extra pets make extra fleas and bring in extra pests"

Well is it possible he saw Bandit out during the summer?  Pets let out get exposed to more fleas but there are simple ways around THAT.  I guess after the other issues you have this may be the best for him to get some more one on one and not be crying/upseting everyone

Yeah I mean Smokie is fairly low maintenence..... he needs lots of love and TLC, but is fine when I am at school all day - Bandit however needs continual attention I think, he is so young (year and half)

Sorry to hear you had to give him up, but at least he's with a friend and you can still see him.

I have 2 cats and a dog in my apartment, but the lease only allows 2 pets - the maintenance people have seemed cool with it. Usually Neko hides anyway. The apt next to us has 3 dogs now (can tell by the barking - the 3rd one is obnoxious) so maybe they just aren't as strict..

That was mean of the pest control guy to report you. Some things are better just left alone. You'd think he had more important things to worry about.

But I'm glad that you found a good home and a home that you can visit.

I agree with you... Some people don't mind their own business, or think of how they'd feel if it were them...

And yes I know its breaking the rules (I'm really breaking mine, as I've 'smuggled' in my pets - though Neko lays in the window all the time with Nero and the property manager has walked by numerous times), but still. I feel as long as the animals are well cared for, and don't make a mess of everything or the owners leaving messes all over, leave 'em be. Some kids are messier than animals and can tear up homes/apartments worse.

I am glad that a friend was able to take Bandit. You will still be able to get reports on how he is doing then. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for Bandit and his new home. :rub:

Oh, I know that must be hard.  Best wishes for all of you in adjusting to the change.

Thanks everyone...

He just left about 10 minutes ago, I'm kinda sad but I know it's for the best- and Amanda is going to be an amazing cat mommy!!

Smokie on the other hand is traumatized.... he was staring out the door and crying for the past 5 minutes :(

That's the thing! The duplex is spotless, does not smell- or anything and they were very very well taken care of

Well, I know that you've talked before about rehoming Bandit, so I'd say it's worked out well for everybody. I'm really glad that somebody was willing to take him.

What a *&%$ shame.  Such a needless thing to separate two cats who love each other.  Picturing Smokie looking at the door and crying after Bandit left is heartbreaking.

You and Bandit are extremely fortunate to have been able to find a new home so quickly with a trusted friend.  I can't imagine being in your position - it would've killed me.

I hope you'll be able to get the boys together to visit each other as often as possible.
