Hello everyone!

I am new to this site I have looked around and found most of the forums to be very interesting! I just adopted an 8 month old male cat a few days ago and I'm beginning to get a little worried. He's been hiding under the bed since I brought him home which I know is pretty normal for new cats however I've noticed he's only used the liter box probably about twice and I don't think he's eaten. :( I had his food in the bedroom and last night when I came home and found him under a table in my family room I moved it in the kitchen. He lets me pet him while he's under the bed and starts to come out but only half way and then goes back in after he's sniffed around. I brought him home Sunday it's now Thursday should I be worried?

Hi and welcome. He is a cutie. Did you have him checked out by a vet before adoption to rule out any medical issues? He does sound scared of the new environment, but 4 days is way too long for a cat to go without eating. Has he been drinking water at all?

I adopted him from a women who couldn't keep him any longer due to her own medical issues, I actually picked him up from her son and daughter in law. They told me that she rescued him from her front porch and he had not been to the vent yet, which I unfortunately can not afford right now. I am curious though as if I should close my bedroom door at night now that I know he's in the living room this way he'll be forced to venture the house more but I feel guilty doing something like that :(

I think your immediate concern should be trying to get him to eat and drink. Cats can get very sick if they go too long without eating. What are you feeding him?

What the owner gave me which was the meow mix sea food sensations and a few cans of wet food I've tried putting hand feeding him under the bed n he just backs away from my hand I also tried this when treats and even left them under the bed n he never touched them. I planned on switching him to IAMS indoor cat dry food but was going to wait til he was more adjusted.
