Last night, for the second time my 3 year old kitty woke up choking / coughing (I really couldn't tell which), clawing at the wall, drooling and freaking out.  The first time she did this I thought she was having a nightmare because she stopped fairly quickly after I touched her.  When she first freakout out, I thought she was stuck on her wicker bed, but then I noticed she was drooling (and not stuck) so I thought she was choking.  Then she just calmed down and layed on her bed kind of dazed.  She got out of bed, ate some food, drank some water and came to sleep on my bed.

Her fit lasted longer last night and I couldn't calm her down as easily.  But once again, once she calmed down, she got out of her wicker bed, drank some water and then came to sleep at the foot of my bed.

The first time this happened was about a week ago, so I can't imagine it's something she ate.  I work from home and spend a lot of time with her, so I usually see what she gets into.  I don't have any bug traps or chemicals accessible.

Could it be nightmares or could she have something else wrong with her?  I'm going to schedule a vet appt, but wanted to see if any else had experienced something like this.

That sounds really scary.  My first thought was epilepsy or a seizure.  My second thought was:  yeah, definitely a trip to the vet.  Actually, I'd call the vet, describe the symptoms, and let him decide whether the appointment should be immediate or tomorrow.
