I was at the grocery store early this morning and went to the cereal aisle to pick up our current favorite cereals which are Special K. I was almost tempted to pick up some of my favorite childhood cereal, Captain Crunch!!!!!!!!!!! :yummy: But, I didn't as we are trying to avoid as much sugar as possible and most of those cereals are packed with the sweet stuff. I had a few favorite sweet cereals when I was little and even into adulthood. I LOVED cereal and could down bowl after bowl.

Grape-Nuts! It's still my favorite cereal. I never liked sweet cereals, even as a kid.

Alpha-Bets.....the old stuff. I think they changed it or something; it doesn't taste like it did years ago. Haven't had any in ages.

I do like Cap'n Crunch!

My favourite then is the same as now - Shredded Wheat.

Feralvr - there is an adult version of Capt'n Crunch - Quaker Corn Bran Squares, it isn't quite as sweet but still has the same base taste as Capt'n Crunch and even resembles it. I've had it a few times and rather like it considering it is presweetened.

I loved Cocoa Pebbles and Lucky Charms too. When I was little I used to pretend I was a cat eating Lucky Charms because it was shaped just like the kibble my Aunt fed her cat.

As a child, it was eat Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies. Daddy bought whatever was the cheapest and the biggest box. We just ate what was put before us, no complaining.

Lucky Charms.. my mom would get mad at me because I'd pick out ALL of the marshmallows right from the box, leaving the grains behind, lol.

My favourite adult cereal is Special K with Red Berries.

My favourite junk food cereals are:  Captain Crunch, Fruit Loops and Apple Jacks.  I just had some Captain Crunch last week.

My mom didn't let us eat sugar cereals. So now I don't even remember what we ate. Cheerios, maybe, or Kix.

Now I like Kashi cereals. The Berry Blossoms kind tastes a lot like Cap'n Crunchberries :D. And I like Toasted Berry Crumble, too.

OMG! ME TOO!  I have been thinking about that latley. (Captin Crunch), but also don't give in because of the sugar. I look at it debating, & my inner voice says, "walk away, walk away."

We didn't eat a lot of processed foods when I was a kid - it was a rural area and my dad was a rancher so we ate fresh local stuff. My parents never bought cereal (or pop/Coke/sodas, hamburger helper, candy, anything processed like that). I still don't eat cereals except for hot oatmeal when I'm sick.

I LOVED those frozen pot pies that you take home and bake. My mother refused to buy them but I had some a few times at some friends' houses and I thought I was in heaven, lol.

I am sure they have changed up the marshmallows somehow in Alpha Bits. They don't taste as good as when I was a kid. Maybe it's the tastebuds going and not the cereal that has changed. :dk: :lol3:

What about using a different kind of milk like soy or almond? I was surprised how quickly I got used to doing that.

My fave as a kid was coco puffs. We didn't always have the yummy cereals though, just Weetbix and boring old cornflakes.
As an adult I can't stand sugary cereal and usually just have bran bud mixes.
