 Since Valentine's Day is around the corner I want to know how you met your mate;

34 years ago a friend of my brothers and my husbands had called my moms house and asked for my brother. Well he wasn't home  and when my brother did get back I totally forget about the phone call. But I called the number back and got accquainted with this guy. 3 months later I married him. And now on May 24th we will be married 35 years. I have put up with alot but I guess I'll keep him lol.

We met in a bar.

My friend and I used to go out on Friday nights to dance and meet guys.  This particular Friday, the place we normally went to was dead, so she suggested we go to this place her sister went to. I said okay. It was getting late, raining, we missed the road at first.  Then when we got there, the parking lot was full.  We drove around 3 times, and she said one more time and if there wasn't anything we should just go home. I  agreed, and the next time around someone was pulling out.  So I always say it was meant to be.  I could see this guy "checking us out," and eventually he came over and asked me to dance.  We got married 3 years later.  I'd have to say that I also have put up with a lot (and I'm sure he would say the same thing), but we are still together after 32+ years, so we must be doing something right.

My girlfriend and I met both our husbands on the same night at the same bar and they were friends too. :lol3: We were all freshman in college at the time. It was actually a bar in a health club. :lol2: Pretty funny, huh? We are all still friends and do stay in touch. We got married about five months apart and were in eachother's wedding. :D :clap:

We lived on different floors of the same dorm, and one day he knocked on my door, introduced himself and invited me out for a drink.

I met Dear Richard at a sledding party in the neighborhood; he had just moved in a few months before. I was 14 and he was 17.  Well, long story short, we married....I was 16 years and he was 19. We've been married almost 42 years. It wasn't easy, especially when we were younger. But we kept trying and we got it right. I love him.

This has to be the weirdest place to meet someone, the car inspection station.  We were both getting our cars inspected and had to wait for them in the little alcove.  We both had on our St. Louis jackets or shirts, I don't remember which but that's all it took to start a conversation.  Living in NJ and being an out of state baseball fan is unusual so we clicked right off....the rest is history.  You just never know where you will meet your lovey....that's what he calls me

Dottie and I met in the departure area of JFK airport in NYC. We were boarding a charter flight to Paris, where we were going for a tour before going to Collonges-sous-Saleve to study abroad for a year. No instant love, but now, 41 years later, we are still best friends.

Paul used to be a hairdresser (before he went into sales). He worked at a shop on Lexington Ave. in NYC. I worked for an advertising agency in Manhattan and went in for a hair cut on a lunch hour. The rest is history!

My husband was a new grad student and I was the Graduate Student Coordinator in the same department. I "coordinated" our first date.
 I had never believed in love at first sight until I met him. My heart pounded like crazy whenever I saw him, and whenever he saw me he felt electricity and warmth go through his body starting from his head going down to his toes. How weird is that! We've been married for almost 18 beautiful years and together 4 years before we got married.

OMG I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful husband!

I met my boyfriend on a Greyhound bus. I was escaping an abusive situation at the time and so even though I talked to him (met a big group of awesome people on that bus who are still friends) I didn't pick up on the fact he liked me because I was too tramautized by my previous relationship. I added all the group to my Facebook and we would all chat and comment on each others posts. Well, one thing led to another over the course of a couples months he ended up calling me. We talked for hours and then eventually met again. We've been together for three years now. He's so awesome and always makes me feel cherished. :)

I was bored and was on craigslist.com and saw a posting.  We talked on email then phone and 2 days later met at a mall and then hung out around town.

We belong to the same local group of car enthusiasts. We would go to the same "meets" on Saturdays, drag race, hang out at the same performance shops, etc. After I wrecked my car in 2011 at the drag strip, we became really close friends very quickly. He told me I was the only person he'd ever felt comfortable enough to open up to, and I realized he was one of the very few people I felt I could trust in my life in recent times after being let down by the person I thought was my best friend. He was there for me whenever I needed it. We also both realized that we want to 'escape' Charleston and experience some place new and different together. (He's been here since he was 2, but was born in VT. I've been here for 8yrs). We moved forward with our relationship pretty quickly and have been living together since the beginning. It's been a year and 2 months today that we've been together (Which is nothing compared to most of the beautiful stories in this thread!!)

We've been through A LOT in the past year - me losing a very well paying job, which resulted in some very tight, tough money situations, my current issue of finding a decent job and feeling useless and skill-less and being upset a lot as a result, a trip to VT to prepare for the death of one of his family members, drama involving me and his mom, his job making him miserable, etc ... but we've also had so many wonderful times as well. I've introduced him to traveling more - he's seen more states with me than he had in his life before. He told me that I'm his only one. If it doesn't work out with me, he's going to remain single forever. That was his plan until we met and our mutual feelings came to the surface. He's never wanted to live with or marry another girl until now :heart3: :heart3: I feel as though what we have gone through together so early on is a good indicator we can get through just about anything that comes our way. I wouldn't want to have anyone else by my side while battling things that are thrown at us.

Oh yeah, and my grandma says she loves him even more than my ex ... that he treats me like a queen and would do anything for me. She's right, and I also take my grandma's approval and opinion very highly. She tells it like it is. She loved my ex, but she said I upgraded with the BF :heart3:
