I have a very friendly stray who keeps getting fungal infections. He is a neutered, longhaired male. It starts by loosing fur and then the area turns red, tender and spreads to the point chunks of hair fall off and his whole back turns bald! He's friendly and I can get him into a carrier, but at the vet he tries to run away and panics, he is 25 pounds so very hard to hold if he fights to run.
Last year someone who works at a feral/stray rescue took him to a vet for strays, no idea where I can't find any when I search. The vet determined he had a bad fungal infection and ear infection to the point his hearing might be affected. He got a strong antibiotic shot and cortisone shot and within a week was growing his hair back.
The other cats I feed never get this, only him so I don't know what is causing it or how to prevent it. Now the person can't help me with him we lost contact, what can I do to help him?
