I recently adopted a pregnant cat from my local shelter. I think I am ready for the babies, but this waiting is KILLING me. I have no idea how far along she is, but she is huge and the babies aren't moving around alot. I have everything ready and I have been present for a birth before so I know what to expect. I'm just really anxious and any advise or helpful words would be great.

Unfortunatly it's quite hard to tell when a cat is due to give birth.  If you can feel the kittens moving around she's probably in the last two weeks.

The FAB link is good, and if you don't have a set of electronic digital scales that weigh in grams now is the time for a tiny bit of retail therapy.  Recording the kitten's weights at about the same time each day is the easiest way of seeing all is well - they put at least 10g on most days.  You can get the odd day when they don't which I reckon is down to the input/output cycle (eating & eliminating) but that is almost always OK the next day.

I put the results in a spreadsheet.

She is huge. Have felt the babies move for almost three weeks. I have never seen a pregnant cat this big.

Cannot believe its been three weeks since I adopted her from the shelter. They said it looked like she could go any day. Boy were they wrong. Still watching and waiting. Almost took her to my vet yesterday to ease my mind, but figured it would just stress her out.

Myself and my partner are in a similar situation with the worrying. Our cat is 65 days pregnant now and we keep thinking she's faking it :p

We can see the kittens wriggling every now and then but it's just the waiting which is hard and not knowing when they'll come. (exciting!) The kittens feel like they've moved down a bit and are in the position to come out now!

She's also very clingy and has started following us around the room and wanting to be with us at all times.

Good luck and make sure you post pictures!
