Tonight's skill that I hoped I'd never have to use again but was glad I had: the ability to assist-feed a cat.

Both me and the vet have been worried about Freya's low food intake so tonight I broke out Cotton's old syringes, slurried her food and got about 1/4 of a can into her before she decided she liked slurried food and ate the rest of the can from my had. So at least I know for sure she's gotten a good meal into her today.

The vet booked her in with a specialist for an ultrasound and an second look at her xrays tomorrow morning. Hopefully we'll have a better idea of what's going on after that.

Thank you for the vibes. I really do appreciate them.

 (Blood work was done today?)
Done Back on Friday, actually. Everything came back perfectly clear. No elevated levels of anything. That's why initially we thought it was just constipation. The x-ray was actually to get a look t her abdomen and look for a blockage, but found this instead.

I'm home from work today and were off in awhile to take her and her x-rays to the specialist. Our vet seems confident we'll have a better handle on it after that. You guys all know what I'm really worried this being, but I just keep wondering "wouldn't that have shown up somewhere on her bloodwork?"

I jut hope we have answers and can put together a treatment for her after today's appointment.

 for the best possible outcome.

You and Freya are in my thoughts.  I've been through the agony of trying to get a clear diagnosis, so I know what you're going through
It's so hard to hold it all together when you're so scared.

Thinking of you and Freya as you go for her ultrasound. Good job getting food into her yesterday.

Well, we're back.

The bad news is that she definitely has a mass in her right lung.

The good news is that that's the only place and it's not  a huge mass. It's not metastitized to any other organs and they were able to do a fine needle aspirate so hopefully by tomorrow we'll know the exact nature of the mass and how to proceed

The specialist was very thorough and checked everything. He explained all the different diagnostics they would do, in order, depending on the results of each previous step. He answered all of my questions (and I usually have a lot of them), i appreciated the fat that he was very honest from the get-go that based on where the mass was, there really weren't a lot of things other than a tumor that it could be, but that there were a number of treatment options once we determined the exact type...and Freya even seemed to like him and didn't give him any trouble during the exam. He was overall really positive about her and seemed comparatively happy with her results, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

So that's where we are. she's a bit dopy from sedation and we're keeping an eye on her. DH and I are both emotionally beat, but hanging in there. It feels better just having narrowed it down so much. the not knowing is the absolute worst.

I'm glad it was what sounds like as positive an experience, for what you are going through can be.  I'm glad she liked the Dr.

More vibes & prayers that it's nothing to serious!

Just sending more vibes that the results of the needle aspiration are as good as they can be (whatever that is
)  But the Vet made it sound like it's not TOO bad, right, so that's good

I have my fingers crossed that it's workable. I did get the impression from him that it could be much, much worse. There were lots of things he could have found that he didn't so right now I'll take what good I can get. My darling little ball of attitude is sitting next to me at the moment after our absolute fail at dinner tonigh (she's much feistier than last night). She's still got a slightly dilated pupil from the sedation and she's really not interested in dinner, so I've left it in her room with her and asked her to at least eat a little while I'm out tonight. I just want to make sure she's getting something into her stomach even thought they warned me that she would eat lightly if at all after everything this morning.

Edit: Oh, and about why nothing showed in her bloodwork: apparently if it's early enough that it hasn't affected organ functions or gotten into the bone marrow, there's a good chance it won't show in her bloodwork.

A fine needle aspiration (is that what you were asking about :)) is when they go directly into the tumor/mass and expel cells to send out to the lab for testing.
