Today, Trivia has a couple of watery eyes.  She had Chlamydia (was swabbed and tested) and received a round of doxycycline.  After a few days her symptoms cleared up.  After a week we got Loa, who shared quarters with Trivia at the shelter and who we knew had a URI.  We kept he isolated for a couple days, during which she saw the vet and was given the same prescription.  After a couple days both girls were at the top of their game.

Currently, Trivia is done her meds but Loa is still on hers.   Both eat like horses, and received l-lysine with their food twice a day to help their recovery from their respective URIs.  They have TONS of energy and are toileting like two very healthy cats.

Trivia's "tears" today were transparent, where as before the eye discharge had been a translucent yellow.  My wife and I have decided to keep an eye on her for the weekend and if it persists we'll take her to the vet on Monday.  However, I just wanted to pick the collective brain of the forums.

Are you still giving them the L-lysine?  It wouldn't hurt to continue with that, IMHO.  Since the "tears" are clear, I'm thinking that's a good sign, but I would definitely keep an eye on her to make sure it doesn't get worse.

Hopefully others will pipe in with lots more experience with URIs, etc.  Thankfully, we've never actually experienced that in our household.  (hoping I haven't just jinxed myself
)

I would stick with the lysine to prevent another flare-up. Keep an eye on her and check with the vet like you said just in case he thinks they need more antibiotics. Usually they won't prescribe antibiotics for  tears that are clear so it does look like she is on the mend.

Yes, we're sticking with the L-lysine until at least the tube is done.

I took mine in for runny eyes, it was clear. Turned out to be herpes of the eye. They can treat it but it still comes back.

Well other than that one incident she has had clear eyes all weekend. Maybe her tear ducts just got some gak in it? I know she has had no shortage of energy, and is eating and pooping fine.
