I'm pretty sure that this question will have been asked before, but I can't find it anywhere, so I'll go again.

Recently I had a conversation with redvelvetone about jamavar fabrics from India.. beautiful woven woollen pieces that I've collected over the years.  And so I thought it would be fun to know:

What do you, or would you like, to collect?

Keep in mind that, according to an Australian TV show The Collectors, if you have three or more, it's a collection!

You mean other than cats?
Well, you said, 3 and there are eight here!

I'm sorry....I couldn't resist. I collect bells. Almost everybody I know has, at one time or another, given me a bell.

(But do you know that I don't have one bell with a cat???)

Ha!!!

My wife's uncle collects little jars of sand from all over the world.  I always thought that that was pretty neat and could see myself doing something similar.

I don't actually collect anything, largely because I don't know what I'd do with a collection.  Set it out somewhere?  Keep it put away then just take it out and go through it to enjoy it?  If you collect something that you use, is it really a collection?  When I think of a collection I think of something that is left mint and pristine.  I used to collect tea sets I guess, just because whenever one caught my eye I'd buy it.  I have a really nice purple clay one from China, and a friend brought me back a couple of porcelain mushroom-shaped ones with clay filter inserts from Korea.

Maybe I'll think of something later, but I don't think I collect anything right now, not with the purpose of display. I had the usual childhood collections of seashells, rocks, matchbox cars, old Coke bottles, coins, stamps. What would I like to collect? If I had the money, I'd collect paintings (or prints), interesting editions of books, and musical instruments. These would be housed in one portion of the estate on which a cat rescue is situated. :D

Pewterware, but I have so much that I've switched to gemstone earrings, since they don't take up as much room. :lol3:

Pottery, but it has to be functional so I do actually use it even if only occasionally. I have most of my pieces on display.
Touch wood, the cats have only managed to break one piece so far.

I used to collect clowns but had to stop since I had so many.  I now just display the cat clowns I have.

Under the cats, mostly.

Wow... in that case I have collections of loads of things - mostly piles of laundry though! I collect cat figurines from all over the world. If someone goes on a trip, they bring me back a cat. If I go, I bring me back a cat. It drives my husband insane to know he's married a woman almost exactly like his mother
he loves me really!

That's why I collect jewelry! Takes up less space than collecting beer bottles, but, then again, you don't get the pleasure of emptying them!

Apart from jewelry, I don't collect anything; I try not to. I dislike having "stuff" around, and it's just more to clean and for the cats to ruin. I'm tired of maintaining non-practical things.

I collect cat-themed stuff. And cars that don't run, apparently :lol3: BF and I have 6 that don't run and two that do.

We all collect anything worth while but as long as you don't collect Cats like a hoarder we all will be sane.
