Had mesha to my vet this morning. We found that sometime this week she had eaten the elastic off of her fishy toy. We saw her eat a piece this morning. We found the stick and fish but the majority of the string was gone. Sigh. The vet said her tummy felt ok and she didnt meow or hiss. And he said as long as it didn't have something attached she probably will pass it. But he couldn't promise. He said to watch her. And if she stops eating or pooping we would have to bring her in. She just ate some food and there was some poop in the box this morning. My husband thinks she has been eating it in chunks. Ugh......worrying to death.

Oh poor Mesha.  Basic rule of thumb is if your cat is peeing, pooping, playing, and eating normally, all is well physically (us humans, well, we worry anyway!)  The other thumb is:  trust your gut.  Speaking of which, try holding your cat's stomach.  If she doesn't react abnormally, then that is a good sign.  (Ritz like her belly rubbed; if I were rubbing her belly and all of a sudden she pushed my hands way, I'd know something might be wrong.)

Did your vet suggest x-rays?  Thought as I understand it, elastic may not show up in xrays.

The vet felt her tummy. mesha did mow, hiss or anything. The vet said it felt fine. He said they could do xrays but the only way to get it out would be surgery. He said to watch her. She has eating, peeing and there has been some poop in her box-not as much as think there should be.

Always remember, if you see string hanging out of your cat's behind, do not pull on it as it could be wound around things inside your cat. I hope he passes it and you will see it in the poop.

Yes, I remember spending a weekend dissecting kitten poop.

More poop this morning and found some grouped together either the elastic string and another piece with a chunk in in

I just don't get it. We had this toy for a year now and play with it. Now she eats it. Ugh
