Hello everyone!
My lovely Miss Blanche, who's just turning 14 this April, was diagnosed with IBD in Summer 2011. Around November 2011, we had a real diagnosis of small cell lymphoma in the small intestine, following numerous treatments for IBD, an ultrasound (800.00) and an exploratory surgery/biopsy of the small intestine ($600.00). I discovered Fort Lauderdale Animal Cancer and Care Center, who placed Blanche on a daily 5mg prednisolone, 1/2 10 mg Pepcid AC, and one 2mg Leukerin every THREE days. I give her a B-12 shot every week. She had lost from 13 pounds down to 6 pounds. She remained on this daily pill routine from November 15, 2011 until August 30, 2012. She went into full remission.
Then on December 3, the diahrrea returned and just as we suspected, she was now out of remission again. We immediately restarted the chemo and she has again popped back into remission, and back up to 10 pounds.
The vet tells us they may be able to spread out the Leukerin to every 5 days.....but that she may be on this routine for the rest of her life. Daily pills are now part of our own lives, and we're ready for that. She does get lethargic during the day to day after the leukerin, but she's full of energy afterwards.
It all sounds very similar, doesn't it? Anyone have anything to add?
Thanks!
Shane (and Blance) in Fort Lauderdale
