So, I took Christopher Robin (almost 9 year old DSH) to the vet again today, after he peed 6 times during the night, including a few times this morning in close succession.
She tested his urine and his blood again. All of his blood work came back normal, and his urine came back mostly normal. Her main concern is that his urine is watery. His urine was tested 2 days ago before he had 2 teeth extracted, and it was also watery then. At that time she said that it was probably because he drinks a lot (I mix water into his wet food). This time, she tested him in the afternoon and he hadn't eaten since about 11:30pm last night. I was pretty obsessively following him most of the night and all of the morning and did not see him drinking water, and he has peed 6 times.
The vet said that there can be a few causes for watery urine including a heart problem, some kind of bacteria that lives in the kidneys, and Cushing's Disease which she said is rare in cats. She sent out his blood/urine for additional testing for the heart, the kidney bacteria, and Cushing's, gave him a high dose of antibiotics in case he has the kidney bacteria, and scheduled him for a sonogram of the heart for Monday. The test results should come back tomorrow.
His overall symptoms that originally were cause for concern were that he was frequently taking his penis out and cleaning it, more frequently trying to hump his sister, and seemed to possibly suffer from some discomfort in his lower body with some twitching. I've also noticed that he's more frequently sitting in the 'meatloaf' position, sometimes with his paws stretched out in front of him (whereas typically he's been a cat who flops around on his sides and back a lot).
A few other symptoms that the vet noticed were a small amount of red and white blood cells in his urine (she said the red could be normal because he was catheterized but didn't know the cause for the white) and that he's lost about 1/3 of a pound in the last week (which I find concerning, but he also has been eating less dry food for the past week and ate only half a meal the night before last, so I'm hoping that's the cause of it?
Anyone have experience with watery urine? Or any of these other symptoms?
Christopher Robin and his sister are my first ever pets and I am so attached to them, I feel extremely anxious and am having a very difficult time with all of this.
Thank you for your continued guidance, this forum and community has been a tremendous help for me.
