Cat Farting Frequently

I adopted out a 3.5 mo Female kitten (I volunteer as an Adoption Rep for Kittykind, a rescue organization in NYC) to a woman who called me to say the cat is farting a lot (along with slightly loose stool). I have never had a "farting complaint" before and am not sure how to advise her.

The farting started as soon as she brought him home, and before she transitioned him to Pet Guard wet food. Even though it preceeded the pet guard, I'm thinking she should try a blander food like Iams, but beyond that I'm a bit stumped. Any advice appreciated, thanks!

Maybe it is the food she is feeding him? maybe some cats do not take too well to some foods?

I have two gasey kitties. I have never had the problem before, but both of them have a think for people food! SO I think that might be what is doign it!

I would advise the woman to have a fecal done just in case. If that comes out okay then start slowly introducing canned pumpkin to the cat to help firm up the stool.
