Hi my cat is 2 Years old and he has suddenly started wetting himself while he's asleep as though he is completely unaware. It doesn't smell of urine at all it barely smells of anything?

It has happened 3-4 times in the last 24 hours?

He has access to his litter tray at all times and has water available to him whenever he wants it.

Please help!

Hi there and welcome to TCS. I'm sorry it's a health problem that brought you here. I would definately get him to a vet asap. Good luck and I hope he's feeling better soon.

Hey, the vet doesn't open up again until Monday for me but I don't suppose anyone has an idea of what it could be?

He is fine with himself, normal running around behaviour. It's literally when he settles down for a nap he wakes up and doesn't realise he's wet himself

Yeah he still goes to the litter box when he needs a wee usually. Its just random that it doesn't smell of urine at all and he doesn't move off it or notice he has done it.

Some bladder issues can be very serious in cat (usually blockages). I don't really know what could cause your kitty's problem. Is there an weekend vet you can call and they could at least tell you if he needs to be seen right away or not? I haven't heard of this problem before so I'm not sure what could cause it.

I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question but if it doesn't smell like urine at all, are you positive it is urine?

Yeah i caught "red handed" as it were. He had been asleep on my computer chair and the patch was under him on the cushion he was on near his bits

You really need to call the vet early Monday morning, it may be an indication to early signs of an illness such as kidney infection or diabetes. I can only tell you what I think and It doesn't sound to me like a blockage since he is urinating.  I had a cat once with kidney infection and she would urinate where ever she was sleeping. How is his appetite and is he drinking a lot of water?  I may be wrong about all this since he is only 2 years old, he seems young to have a kidney infection but you will need to get him to your vet as soon as you can to be sure. We here can only tell you of our experiences with our kitty's but all cats can have different symptoms for the same issues.  Best wishes for you and your kitty.

I don't think he's blocked either because he is urinating. I just meant that bladder issues could be serious especially if they are blocked. I agree a vet visit as soon as possible.

My cat had urinary incontinence while she was having a kidney Infection. It resolved after 6 weeks of antibiotics. In her case wetting was the only symptom.
