I've just started having singing lessons in the North Indian tradition.  I've sung for years, just in a fun way, and am now taking it to another level.

So I thought it would be interesting to know, no matter how basic or how professional,

do you sing?

Mani, what a wonderful idea! Congratulations!

No, I don't sing.....unless you want to count me singing "Deck the Halls" or "O Sole Mio" at work, much to the dismay of my co-workers. Sometimes, just for a change, I'll let loose with "Smoke on the Water". (and everybody cringes)

Yes, I sing.  I sang with my mom, the church organist, for years.  At Mass, funerals and weddings. . Nothing like mother/daughter harmony.  I also play guitar.

It is a family tradition in our family.  My daughter, and her daughter also sing.  My granddaughter has won numerous contests and plans on a career in theater.

Years ago, I went to Nashville with a songwriter friend.  I was so homesick I stayed only 24 hours.  Guess I would rather be home than have e career in music!

Yes, I sing and have also learned to play the guitar. I go with a group once a month to the local nursing home and we sing for the people there. They are a forgiving audience and they love for us to come. At Christmas, the nursing home had baked cookies and served us refreshments.

Yes, if you can call what I produce from my throat "singing"!  I always sing to cds while driving.  I sing 60's soul music and now, 1920's blues music, usually the "dirty" (and I mean the lyrics live up to that name!) blues, female singers.  I had never sung in front of anyone my entire life, until before Christmas. I went to visit my friend, who was singing with a group at a local Christmas festival. I didn't realize they were performing--it was so casual, I thought they were rehearsing when I sat down to chat and sing with them. Nope! What else could I do--I was stuck there, so I went along with it. DH and I had a blast singing public, and the leader later told us that we had very good singing voices!

No I don't sing, I sing along to some songs but I don't have a singing voice.  When I was a kid, my Mom sent me to singing, tapping and ballet classes and I must say I did have a pretty good voice at that time.  I grew up to be a major clutz so those dancing lessons didn't do a thing for me plus I became stage fright at my first recital.

Yes, but my voice is not what it was, thanks to respiratory problems and chronic cough affecting my vocal chords. I sang in choirs from grade school to college. Most of the time I was an alto/contralto and had a 3 1/2 octave range.

I just now tried a scale and the results were not pretty in the soprano registers. The bass was fantastic, though. :music3:.

Sing how? Definitely not solo! :lol3: At religious meetings, yes, along with the entire congregation, so nobody hears just me. And I sing along with the radio sometimes when I'm alone. I don't think I'm very good :tongue2:.

Yes, I sing. Not in front of any one anymore, but growing up I did in church & at school. At church I was in the youth choir, & ensemble. In school, I tried out for & was in the advanced chorus all through Jr. high, & part of high school. The second half of high school, I was in the advanced dance class/team.  I couldn't do both, so made a change to dance. I still sang at church though. I even did duets w/ my sister & others in the choir, but that was over 20 years ago! lol!  I still like to sing, but it's to the radio, or to Angel. "I'm sure Angel just loves my made up songs I sing to him."

I truly wish I could sing --- but unfortunately I can't carry a tune if my life depended on it. I have a memory of when I was in grade school somehow ending up in the glee club. (don't know how that happened). But I will always remember the teacher walking past me and whispering in my ear "just move your lips". Later on someone told me it was a terrible thing for a teacher to do. I don't know -- but I wish I could sing.

I sing Rock a bye Baby to my cats to calm them down when they won't let me hold them.

And when I clean the house I blast the radio.

I sing along to songs in the car, but I'm pretty sure I have a horrible singing voice :lol3:

How great that you are taking a hobby to the next level! Way to go  I can't carry a tune. Nope. Singing is just not in the cards for me. BUT... I can dance :D
