Okay so a couple hours ago I was opening up the door to go to the store and a black kitten literally BOLTED into my house.

It was so random. Especially because earlier that day I was swooning over black kittens on craigslist (I have been wanting a cat forever).

Anyways, the cat seems to be a couple months old and isn't aggressive in the least bit. Just inquisitive and playful.

I played and watched the cat for about an hour and jumped the gun and ran to Walmart to buy it things like food and a litterbox.

When I came home the cat didn't destroy my house, he/she was just chillin'.

Anyways the second I put down the litterbox and filled it with litter he/she immediately went in and did its business.

The cat also seemed to respond to me opening a can of food, like it's done this all before.

Also, I have yet to hear this cat meow or make any noise. He is just so chill. He loves my lap. He purrs a lot.

I AM going to take this kitten to the vet and see if he's microchipped and stuff. I was just wondering........do you think this cat is someone's? Is it normal for a "stray" cat to seem so domesticated?

Interesing. ALL variations are possible.

Here it is easy, as you ARE prepared to adopt it.  It is more difficult for those NO NOs...

Priority nr 1 is to give shelter and protection in these cases as here.  If you can.

And seek after the owner. Small kittens dont have the feeling of territory, so they go very easy astray if you let them out alone.  One of the reasons why never ever let out kittens out alone.

Put up on message boards around.  Dont describe her too closely, so the owner will identyfy himself by describing the kitten.

If you dont want to give out into public your own name etc, do use a prepaid card to a cell / mobile phone, and or a anonymous yahoo.com adresse.

If you dont find an owner, see the kittens arrival as a gift form Above.    :)

Welcome to our Forums!

Good luck!

Since it just ran into your house, I would guess that he is/was someone's pet.  He probably either got out or was tossed out, was wandering about, saw the open door and knew what that meant.  Someone out there could be very upset at the loss of their kitten, he could have uncaring owners that have hardly noticed his absence, or he could have been abandoned.  Take him to be scanned for a chip, put up signs that just say "Found Kitten" with your contact info within a reasonable area, and see if anyone claims him.  I'd give it about a week to see if someone comes looking for him, and if no one does then assume he is abandoned and adopt him.  If it does turn out that he belongs to someone then you can use the purchases that you made and adopt another kitten, but if not then both you and the baby were lucky!

Forgot to mention- last month my aunt and uncle literally had a tiny kitten just wander into their garage while he was working in it.  It was tiny and friendly- had obviously belonged to someone who dumped him.  Tried to find an owner, but no one claimed him.  Friendly domesticated kittens will often seek out people.

You should try to find his owners---put up posters, make found ads, ask the neighbors etc.---but more than likely he was dumped. Have fun! :D

Sounds like  a real sweetheart.  Thanks for accepting the Gift.

Agree with everyone.

Any idea how old the kitten is and whether it is a girl or boy?

When you take him/her to the vets, ask the vet if he/she thinks the kitten has been spayed/neutered.  If the answer is yes, even if not microchipped, probably a lost kitten.

If not s/n, may go into heat relatively quickly,

Yes! He is so chill. He hasn't once hissed at me or acted fearful of anything. Also the only time he meows is when I'm getting his food for him.
