Hi everyone! Quick backstory. Hubby and I brought in a feral after he tested negative for FIV and FIL. We kept him separated and treated him for worms.

Fast forward to Monday when a "Stomach Virus" spread through my multi cat home. I treated all the cats for worms with Pyrantel and was given Flagyl and Loperamide for them. All cats quickly got well and resumed normal eating and playing activities except Pumpkin. She has been listless for days and I have to syringe feed her food and water.

She is a 18lb cat and this is NOT normal behavior for her.

Do you think the Flagyl is making her nauseous? Should I continue with it or take her off it? My Vet didn't really have any answers over the phone and just said she may have a URI, which she doesnt.

TIA!!!

If you have to syringe him, I think you better get to the vet.  Dehydration is dangerous and it does not take much for them to become dehydrated.

My vet would have said bring the kitty right in and not suggest he has something else without being examined.

Please insist he be seen or go to another vet.  You are his advocate, he cannot speak for himself.

Many good thoughts and prayers for you and your boy.  Thank you for taking in into your home.  You have good hearts.

If you are having to syringe feed and water her, get her back to the vet. Better yet, a different vet if you can. You vet's vague response over the phone really bothers me. He/she should have told you to bring her right back in considering the feeding/watering situation.

Please post a followup if you can!

Thanks for your responses! She did develop a URI so the vet was pretty savvy. She didn't need Sub Q's, luckily I had done a good enough job of keeping her hydrated. She's still very lethargic but she is eating a little here and there on her own. She is on Clavamox now. Luckily my 8mo twins have been very good the last couple days while I take care of her!
Please send good vibes Pumpkins way!
