Update on my cancer

Well, I am finally having my surgery on the 28th. I had to wait for Medi-cal to approve my MRI. I finally had it and was scheduled for surgery on the 21st but that was a holiday and they didn't work that day. So barring anything else, I will have the surgery on the 28th. I will then start my treatments a few weeks later. Once the treatments are done, I will have 2 more reconstructive surgeries. I was denied State Disability but that was because the doctor forgot to put an ending date. They have resubmitted it and I am still waiting to hear. My unemployment was stopped since I was honest and told them I was unable to work. So I haven't been paid since mid December. I have some funds saved but it is going to be very tight for awhile.

Do you not have disability through unemployment insurance?  In Canada we are entitled to 15 weeks of what is called "employment disability". It's basically the same thing as unemployment insurance, but it's for medical purposes.

The very best of luck to you.  I hope all goes well with the surgeries and your treatments.  I'm sorry to hear that unemployment has stopped your checks.  There should be some way you can be compensated.

Good luck with the surgery. I hope it goes as scheduled. I can't believe they stopped your unemployment cheques. :( Just what you need - more stress!!!

Good luck. My mother in law died of breast cancer and I miss her and she did all she could. She had passed away at the hospital in 1988 and my kids were 8 and 4. My son never really knew her .  Take good care of yourself. Thoughts and love are with you. Keep us in touch

A word of encouragement to you. My daughter has had three diagnosis of this dreaded "C" word, the first being in '95. She is still here, still holding down a job. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Prayers for you in this difficult time for your surgery and finances. I pray that soon this will all be just a memory for you. Hugs. and God bless.
