Hi.

My cat has tooth tartar and stomatitis (inflammation of the mouth)

I will have vet scale and polish my cat's tooth sooner or later.

but it takes 10 days for healing after scaling and polishing

Could you recommend natural or raw food for my cat during the 10 days?

I found out that Cat chow ,which become soft after being immersed in water, become sticky (like plague) and then become hard stone like material (like tartar).

but Hills pets' cat oral care, which become soft after being immersed in water, don't bocome sticky and then don't become hard stone like material..

all natural cat food also doesn't become sticky and become stone like material. all natural cat food decay and dissolve...

so, i want to feed Hills pets' cat oral care or natural or raw cat food to my cat during 10 days and forever..

Hills pets' cat oral care is not available in my area (South korea)

I tried chopped small frozen white rats. but he hate rats and their blood.

but my cat love Sun rich cream cheese better than soft cat chow and raw frozen rats.

it looks like that Sunrich cream cheese don't become sticky and tartar like material.

but i am afraid of mal nutrition by only eating cream cheese..

I'd like to try raw goat cheese or milk

cat can live by only eating raw goat milk or goat cheese?

any recommendation welcome...sorry for my stupid english skill

First off Hill's Science Diet is a basic and quite frankly horrible food. If you are looking into commeracil brands you need to look at Nature's Variety or Wellness Core. In addition they have water additives that will help seriously decrease tartar and plaque in a cats mouth. If you need specific recommendations let me know.

Seongkook Jeon,

안녕하세요

Welcome to The Cat Site! I can see that you care about your cat very much, and this is an excellent site for getting answers. I hope that you find it helpful.

Giving your cat raw food is the way to go. It does a good job of keeping teeth healthy. But it is very probable you will have to prepare the food yourself. Since cats need a properly balanced diet to meet their specific needs, a good way for you to get started would be to post a thread in the "Raw feeding for cats" section of the forum. There are many experienced members there who can answer your questions.

If you want to begin immediately, you can find a lot of helpful information by searching this forum, as there are many threads about feeding raw to cats. Another good resource is catinfo.org, by Dr. Lisa Pierson. She explains why commercial dry food is harmful to cats, and gives detailed information about making raw cat food. I highly recommend reading her articles.

As to your question about cats eating cream or goat cheese, I don't think that would be a good long-term diet for a cat; but hopefully someone here with more experience will be able to answer that question more thoroughly for you.

Edited to add: There are certain commercial foods that are acceptably healthful for cats. Wet food is better for the teeth than dry. If you are curious about a certain brand available in your area, you can always post the list of ingredients here and ask if it's a quality food or not. You might have success in finding a brand that's convenient for you and healthful for your kitty.

Also, what is the name of your cat?

No, goat milk, cream cheese, or goat cheese does not provide all - or even much - of the nutrition your cat needs.

Accessing meat, organs, and some bone-in things like chicken or duck wings shouldn't be difficult for you? A good site to help you learn how to feed whole prey model raw, which is what will probably be the easiest for you to source, is http://www.catcentric.org

And, of course, starting a thread in the raw forum will get you a lot of help too. :) http://www.thecatsite.com/f/65/raw-feeding-for-cats

Hello Seongkook Jeon,

Just wondering if you've found some answers to your questions yet? Have you been able to read the catcentric.org or catinfo.org websites? This page is all about making homemade raw cat food--it contains extensive information, but is very reliable. Both of these sites are wonderful resources for people who want to improve their cat's diet. Please let us know if you've found useful information, or if you have any more questions.

Don't be surprised if you try switching your cat's diet and your cat doesn't like it. It can take time and a lot of persuasion. If you find your cat is stubborn, there are people here who have experience with that, too. They should be able to help, if you post about it.

Take care!
