This is fine posting here with that question. Many have asked this before and it is a great one.

I use, love and swear by Pets Best Insurance. I couldn't be more happy with the customer care and the fast turnaround to be paid back. Very caring company. I highly recommend them. A few of us here use Pets Best. http://www.petsbest.com/landing/pet-insurance

I use 24Petwatch (http://www.24petwatch.com/US/Pet_Insurance/index.aspx) and I haven't had a negative experience with them. One of my cats had to undergo two radical mastectomies last year and they reimbursed me for 70% of the cost of treatment (after the deductible). Although that has nearly exhausted my coverage for cancer, the cat in question is now 9 years old and after two radical mastectomies I'm not sure I would put her through another surgery anyway.

Be very careful which insurance policy you get.  Some will only pay out for the first year the cat has a condition - ok for a broken leg, not OK for a chronic condition such as diabetes.  Others have a low limit on the pay-out any given year, and so on.

yes, i'm so uncertain on which to choose from. I haven't looked deep into any of them yet. I have to take my time and see about it. I tried getting a free quote and I can't get past "choose your cat breed" Ella's a tabby... That breed isn't on their..

Any of you know another name for "Tabby" cats?

When I renewed with Pets Best recently for my cats, two of which have an ongoing illness; Herpetic eye for one, asthma for another, Pets Best assured me that these cats will not have any exclusions on their policy and they will still pay out for their care on these illnesses which they already have on Perla this month. Pre-existing conditions (conditions that the cat had before you sign up for a policy) are not covered on any insurance policy, though. Such as, Pipsqueaks blood in urine issue caused from his stress level. Although, since he had no crystals/stones after multiple urinalysis', they told me that if Pip were to ever get crystals/stones they would cover that. Different problem from blood in urine. Great insurance company and always there and willing to answer any question or concern you have.

:yeah: Bugsy has a couple of chronic issues, and I have never had a problem renewing or getting coverage. Been with them since 2008; they are fantastic.

I do not have pet insurance and probably will not get it. I usually just pay out of pocket but I know this is not possible for many. I have a couple of friends that do have it and the companies have already been listed by other posters. Great reviews on the pet insurance from my friends!

For those that can not qualify for pet insurance there is CareCredit http://www.carecredit.com/. This is a financing option. From what I understand you use it like a credit card at the vet's offices that accept it. Then you pay off monthly installments like you would any other credit card. Sounds handy to have if you can't get pet insurance and need to pay monthly instead of a lump sum. Just my :2cts:

I've heard some pretty awful things about carecredit
BUT THEY SEEM SO LEGIT!! lol We shall see. I just wanted to look into pet insurance. She what they have to offer. Thank God Ella hasn't needed any surgery or anything like that. Just boosters & rabies and what not. But if she was to fall sick *knocks on wood* we'd have to find a new vet to take her into because the one that we take her to is just for "shots" pretty much and microchipping. it's just one of those in their out of their places. =/ We still have lot's to do for her. lol

I have healthy paws, and a cat with kidney disease that goes to the vet almost every month. Healthy paws covers diagnostics tests, hospitalization and medicine! ! It even covers my cat's acupuncture session :)

There isn't any such think as a medium hair cat, genetically speaking.  They are all longhair or shorthair.  However the length and quality of the coat varies massively - shorthair can be anything from an Oriental with sleek close-fitting fur under 1/2" long to a coat almost a couple of inches long, and a longhair can vary from a cat where the only clues are a fluffy tail and ear tufts through to a full-coated Persian.

I have six "short haired" cats BUT three of the six have almost two inch long hair, all siblings too! I always thought that they were considered "medium" hairs. :lol3:

Genetically there is shorthair and longhair and that is it, so genetically your cat is a shorthair.  Medium hair might be descriptive but it's not accurate in genetic terms, and isn't used describing pedigree cats.  It also seems to be a US term - I've never come across it here in the UK.

Questions, about, VPI pet insurance. Website is as follows: http://www.petinsurance.com/

I own an F3 Savannah, that, is a nonstandard color. I will also be acquiring a F2 Chausie and F2 Savannah. The other Savannah, will most likely be nonstandard color as well. The Chausie should be, a standard color. Okay, so the point(s) is this: A) do I need to show the blue slip, for, each cat? The only breed, like, the Savannahs (by like, I mean a true hybrid) is a Bengal. So, would I call them a Bengal? I know, if, I need to show the blue slip, that, isn't possible
. Or, would they be DSH? Or, I think, I saw, mix of unknown origin.

Lastly, do I put the money out myself and then, they (VPI), reimburse me? I am just going to be insuring my next cats somehow
.

I believe VPI has a benefits schedule, which means they determine how much a procedure *should* cost and reimburse based on that amount as opposed to how much you actually paid. There are other companies that reimburse a percentage of whatever amount you actually paid.

Thanks! I was just looking online and "medium short hair" popped up. so thanks for clarifying it for me.
