I am soo glad I have been sleeping in my fosters room! I had just dozed off when I heard the pregnant girl give a loud cry, then a few seconds later, a baby cry! At 2:58 AM baby #1 was born. She has cleaned the baby & passed the placenta at 3:20. So far so good with #1, he/she has a good set of lungs.

I on the other hand, am a nervous wreck. She will not let me too close but knowing she's had litter prior, I believe she'll be ok.

I do believe she's done at 5 babies. All babies are cleaned, fed and she is now sleeping - which means I can go to sleep!

All placenta's present and accounted for. I don't think we have anymore in there, but she will not let me feel her belly. She's too busy protecting her brood. Labor went a lot more smoothly and a lot quicker than I had thought it was going to, much to my relief. She knew exactly what she was doing, and needed no help from me, though I was ready. She let me take her out of her box to put new towels in - I tried giving her a totally new box since hers had blood in it, but she refused it, so I'll let her keep hers for a few days - I cleaned as much blood off of it as I could but didn't want to risk stressing her out.

You might find it easier to prepare a new box, transfer the kittens within her sight, and take the old one away.  At any rate don't leave it several days to try to replacing her bedding, try again in 12 hours or so.

The other thing - got a set of digital scales that weigh in grams?  Kittens should gain at least 10 g most days, and it's easier to deal with hole numbers (which the grams will be) than ounces where you would be dealing in decimal points.

Finally - you've done it once - you gotta do it again and again.  We love photos!

I don't think she'll allow me to weigh them - she's started growling at me and hissing when I come too close to her box. At 7:45 AM, she had a 6th one, but it did not survive - it's intestines were outside it's body when I saw it. Placenta came out, and she allowed me to take it out of her box, she wasn't going to eat it.

Otherwise, the 5 born early this morning are doing great. All are actively feeding & exercising their lungs when she moves to get comfortable.

Hopefully everyone is spayed and neutered, and you kept a close eye when they were together after the birth. cats can get pregnant again very soon after birth.

yes i know that's how she got pregnant with this litter.
after she had the kittens we keep them apart, when we couldn't keep a eye on them. we learned the hard way. LOL!   My boyfriend & I aren't together anymore. I left with 2 of the kittens (both girls) last Aug. so it's his problem know. We dont talk so I don't know what he did with Mommy & Daddy. We give away all the other kittens before I left. My girls are 9 months old now & yea they have come in heat a couple time now. cant get the spayed right now so we just deal with them. love my girls so I wont give them up.

That's kind of cold. They were your cats too for awhile & to just write them off like that...I don't get it.

My momma & kittens are doing well this morning. I had to kennel her with them as she was moving them into spots she could not get back to, and then would start to move them and forget about the ones already moved when another started crying. Since kenneling them, she seems more relaxed. I put a blanket around the kennel so it's nice and dark except at the door and back so air gets in.

I'm not sure where you're located but you can usually find spay/neuter clinics or shelters who will do spay surgeries for free or a low cost.  I'd highly suggest looking around for an option as the more times they're in heat, the higher the risk is to their health(cancer, etc) and the possibility of them escaping and becoming pregnant with a litter of unwanted kittens.
