I have some bully sticks for my dogs and it never occurred to me that cats might like them.  Well, Zapp and Kubla climbed up on the shelf where the bag is kept and have been trying to drag it to the ground for a while.  I thought... I guess?  If they want them?  I got a skinny one out, cut it into littler pieces, and now all the cats are chewing on bully sticks like little doggies.  Of course, Sosuke is watching them chew like, "What the hell...?"  So he got a big one.

The way they're going at it with their molars, I bet it's cleaning their teeth!  It never occurred to me to give cats a chew treat like I do the dogs.  This will definitely help with Zapp, though, as he was caught chewing through a cord today.

Do you guys give your cats chews of any kind?

I had to goggle what a bully stick was (for those not in the know:  it is a, um, male organ [use your imagination]).  Since a bully stick is essentially dried meat, I guess it's okay.  Make sure the sticks are 100% male organ, with no flavor whatsoever.  Some spices, extracts are toxic to cats.  But If you're primary purpose is for teeth cleaning, try RAW chicken wings.  Much healthier.  And under no circumstances should you feed your cat COOKED bone.  (I've never owned a dog, but I am aware of dog bones.  I don't know if they are cooked or something else.)

Oh how cool!

Maybe they'd like raw [male organs].  You can find them in international supermarkets.  Not as cheap as you might think!

One Christmas we gave a little gift bag for SIL's family dog. BIL opened it and sniffed the bully sticks saying "Mmmm, these smell good, I wonder what they taste like" OMG, he almost bit one before I told him what it was made of! :flail:

I give Pushy dog treats all the time instead of kibble. It's pure dried American beef and I cut it into little hard chunks that take him some effort to chomp. He's on wet food and these just give him something when we give his brother his kibble. This is the brand:

I buy bully stix for my sister's dog, and our cats go bananas for them.  And the ones I get are "supposedly" odorless.  Maybe that just means once the dog start chewing on them
.  Anyway, I didn't actually let my little ones chew on them, since they were a gift for someone else, but every time I opened the cabinet where they were stored, the cats would try to get in there, and once I took them out just to see what would happen, and instantly had all 3 cats there trying to break into the package.  (they don't normally do that)

BTW, they DO make pet stix for cats.  I think they are made with chicken and then some not so great ingredients.  I bought them once, and my crew wanted nothing to do with chewing them, but they have fun rolling them around on the floor.  (I still find them occasionally under furniture)
