We just got back from Cindy's surgery.  One of the best sights I've ever seen was her surgeon coming to talk to us with a big smile and both thumbs up

He successfully removed the entire mass.  Had to take a bit of her colon to get it all, but supposedly that won't be a huge issue.  He also took a bit of her liver to biopsy.  I don't know when we will get the results, but he was very confident that that we could start treatment for it.  It does look like lymphoma, it's just what kind I guess to know what treatment would be best.

We got to see her for a few minutes before we left, and it just broke my heart seeing her like that, she was laying there shivvering.  They had her all wrapped up and I could feel warm air, but I don't know if she was shivvering because she was cold or because she was scared.  She's so -  I can't think of the word I want - sensitive to things and gets scared so easily.  But I believe she's in good hands and we are going to fight to beat this thing.

I want to thank everyone who has been sending vibes and prayers and supporting me through this journey.  I know it's not over, but I feel we have a little reprieve to catch our breath and see where we go from here.  I'm looking forward to bringing her back home, probably on Sunday.

That's awesome news!!  I'm so very happy to hear that Cindy's surgery went so well. That was a very traumatic thing for her to go through and I'm sure that's why she's feeling a little scared.  We will continue to have faith and positive thoughts and she will be home with you soon. Blessings to comfort and give peace to both of you!

Oh Misty.... you must be SO RELIEVED they were able to remove the entire mass! A smile and two thumbs up must have just made your day!   THAT is great news! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

It sure sounds like you chose a great surgeon. :heart2: Having the other tissues for biopsy will help get a definitive diagnosis, I'm sure. :heart2: Sending positive vibes - and hopes that Sunday's here soon!! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

I know how heartbreaking it is to leave them when they look so.... in need. :heart2: :grphug2: But she's where she needs to be, and obviously in very good hands. :rub:

Let me say thank you again to every one, for your vibes and prayers.  I think they really do work, and I'm grateful.  I'm really missing her tonight, but I know she's where she needs to be for right now.  We are going to call them around 6:00 if we don't hear before then.  They allow you to call 2 times a day, and visit for 30 minutes, which we'll be doing tomorrow.

Laurie - as the time ticked by we were hoping that was a good sign and he was doing more than just getting a sample to biopsy (it was probably over 2 hours, I'm not sure exactly when he got started).  And yes indeed when I saw him come out that door with the smile and the two thumbs up I wanted to jump up and kiss him!
He is a really nice person, from what we can tell, very personable and a great bedside manner, both with us and with Cindy.  He was highly recommended by both the vets we saw, and I could see why.

Anyway, it looks like they're going to be taking very good care of her, and Sunday will be here soon

Oh so glad to hear the news...isn't it wonderful we can go from the depths of despair to euphoria so quickly?

Take a break tonight and relax and exhale.

God bless Cindy and I hope she bounces back like the trooper she obviously is.

You got to spend 2 hours with her!   And even though she didn't actually get to come home, and the Doc decided it's best to keep her one more night, I take it as a GREAT sign that someone thought she was doing well enough to go home today! :lol3:    That really makes me smile!

Continued vibes! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Yes, it's just a precaution.  He did tell us before he did the surgery that he wanted to keep her two days, so I was rather surprised they said she could come home.  She was a little feisty at first - let me down!  let me lick these stitches!  Before she finally settled down for a little snooze.

I'm glad Cindy is doing so well after that a major surgery that she went through. She sure seems to be a sweet little girl.

Prayers for her quick recovery

Cindy is staying another night.  They think she might be a bit nauseous and she's not eating much.  They are giving her anti-nausea medicine, but if she doesn't eat there and doesn't eat when we bring her home tomorrow, she'll most likely need a feeding tube.

:heart2: Maybe she doesn't want to eat there because she misses home. :heart2: :cross:

I'm so sorry she's not home with you tonight. :hugs:

:vibes: :vibes: :vibes: her appetite picks up with the anti-nausea med! :rub:

We are hoping that's why.  I sure don't want to have to go with a feeding tube.  They can also give us an appetite stimulate, I guess that's worth a shot too.  Poor little Cindy.  They told us she was purring back there, so loud they couldn't listen to her heart.  I don't know if that's because she was happy or trying to calm herself.  She doesn't seem real stressed.

I am happy! Spoke with the hospital, and they said Cindy is doing "very good" this morning and that she ate!! They want the surgeon to check her, and then we can go get her and bring her home.

I am SO happy about the surgery going so well and now it seems as if she'll be home with you tonight
.  I must apologize for not being here to support you these last few days, but had an emergency surgery in my own human family, so was MIA
.

So...any timeframe for getting the results from the biopsy?

I hope everything is okay with your family member.
that the surgery went well and everything is okay.

We should get the biopsy in a day or two.  The surgeon called tonight, but I missed the call.  He won't be in town but instructed us who to call to get the results.  She'll get her stitches (staples) out next Monday.  After an initial readjusting period, she curled up and went to sleep on the bed.  Also after a little hesitation, Swanie has re acquainted himself with her and all is well with the two of them.  I tried to get her to eat when we first brought her home, but she wasn't having any of it.  So I just made up the usual evening meal for the two of them, and when I went into the bedroom she was sitting up waiting for me to bring it to her!  So I feel good about that too.  I know it's a long road ahead of her (us), but for now I'm so happy to  see her relaxed and looking comfy.

Yes, everything is AOK with my Dad (he's 89!!)  Thanks for the vibes.

Great news that Swanie didn't have a hissy fit with Cindy being at the Animal Hospital for 3 nights.  That could have been a small issue
.  So glad Cindy is relaxed and comfy cozy at home

So glad about your dad!!
It's always scary when someone you love has to undergo surgery for any reason.

Actually, I spoke a bit too soon about Swanie, we did have a little incident when Cindy was looking for a place to go potty and we quicklyy put the litter box on our bed.  She got in and Swanie decided he wanted to jump up there too, so I blocked him.  Several times.  He's kind of a brat, so he started hissing at me, and I hissed right back at him. We do this occasionally
I won the round, and we made up later.  He's been a pretty good little Doodle though, and they slept together was a long while last evening (while we were supervising).
