I've just noticed that Sundar has a hard little bump on his nose.  It moves freely and is a little like a grain of rice.

I'm just wondering whether there is any possibility his microchip has found it's way down his nose, as that's what it feels like, but that would seem impossible.. it would have had to migrate from the back of his neck over the top of his head!

Any ideas as to what it could be?

A fatty cyst? :dk: I had one in my cheek once. But it appeared just like that? wow, that would be very strange indeed if it were his microchip! I haven't felt around for the ones on our cats for some time...

It may not have appeared really quickly.. it's only small and I only notice it when he's side on or when I rub his nose.

I'll keep an eye on it...  If I was still with AWL I'd just borrow the scanner and check, just to be sure he doesn't have his nose chipped

It's just such a good picture. :lol3: I must say... given it feels like a grain of rice, it sounds like the microchip, it just seems so unlikely!

Swanie had something that looked like that.  It got bigger and the vet removed it and biopsied.  It was a cyst.

Was it really hard, small and mobile initially?

I don't recall if it was mobile, unfortunately.  It's been a while. It was like a hard lump under the skin.  He had it for quite a while, I initially thought it was just the way his  nose was, but then it started to grow.  If I can find a picture that shows it, I'll attach one.

I can't come up with a good one.  I don't know if you can see it in this one or not.  Probably too small.  Then it started to get darker and bigger, which was when I freaked and too him to the vet.  She said it was probably a cyst but she could biopsy it if we liked - we did - and it was indeed a cyst.  He has a scar from the surgery.

Yes, I can see it if make the picture larger... it looks like it might be rounder than Sundar's.

Swanie looks very comfy in his box..

It looked like part of his nose to me before it grew a bit and started to get darker in color. I have a picture, but I can't get it to upload  (and by the way, It's been quite a while since Swanie was able to fit in a box like that (he grew up to be a big boy)

I would say next time you are at the vet's, ask him about Sundar's bump.  It couldn't hurt.

Well, I gently massaged it every day and it became less hard and has now disappeared!

I think I was getting worried over a pussycat blind pimple

How strange, though that it was so hard, just like a chip.

Well, it hasn't gone!  I've just discovered it on the side of his nose, just where it meets his 'cheek'!!  It is obviously his chip!

It's Sunday, but tomorrow I'll ring the vet and ask whether this is not a good thing... What if it worked its way up to his eye?!

It shows up as his chip on the scan... They say there's no problem.. to just keep an eye on it, but I'm not wild about it moving around his face, and he's not so happy about me touching it where it is.  Also I've been reading up, and it may just be his body trying to reject it.

My 'good' vet is a long way away.. in fact I've just found an alternative vet who is even further away,(thank you, Laurie, for your suggestions about this in the past).. and that's where I'd like to take him.

Um, freaky! I think if I saw the chip that close to the skin--and on the face, no less!--I'd have it cut out. That just can't be good.
