We are in the freezer....our high today will be 29 degrees. A brutal wind and snow flurries. Lows in the very low teens to single digits. We're definitely in winter's grip now!
It's horrible. We've had lots of snow, and then freezing rain on top of that. There are accidents all over the place, and the ERs are full of people who've fallen. A lot of roads are impassable, and public transport is delayed or not running at all.
It is very cold here. Single digit temps and below zero wind chill. I normally walk to work but the hubby and I talked last night and decided I was taking a cab today. He agreed with me that it was too cold for me to walk. He will pick me up tonight since he will be home from work when I get off work.
Right now, it's clear and sunny but cold. Not too bad but when that sun goes down and the wind picks up we're supposed to have wind chill of -10 F. Yesterday it was so windy I thought we were going to end up in Oz!
We got about 3 inches of snow yesterday afternoon.....and no township or state trucks in sight until later on last night. Rick got home about 20 minutes late and I was worried. Turns out there was a bad accident and he had to wait til they got the vehicles moved. Thank goodness, there was no school yesterday; the kids would have been left out early.
We did go for groceries last night (Monday is our grocery night). On the way home, the roads were terrible. Even though there wasn't a lot of snow, the wind was brutal and the temperature dove down. Lots of black ice on the roads. It wasn't that bad when we left and we were "supposed" to get an inch. We were on our way home and, no matter how we get home, there's a hill....doesn't matter which road we drive on, there's a hill. There was a car in front of us (front-wheel drive) and she couldn't make it up the hill. So there we were stuck behind her. Every time she tried, she kept sliding over to the gully. Finally she made it up to the top but there were zigzag lines lines the whole way up from her sliding and skidding. I bet when she got home, she breathed more than a few sighs of relief....I was praying for her, too. We just sat at the bottom of the hill, waiting for her to get up. A line of cars behind us.
Bless Hannah's engine. She went right up the hill to the top with no trouble.
I started Hannah up this morning (remote starter is just wonderful!!!
I stood in the kitchen and started her). While she warmed up, I made my coffee. When I went out, Hannah said it was 7 degrees. And the wind is just roaring around outside. I had to get gas on my way into work this morning and it was nasty standing outside.
I have to say since our move the sun has been shining almost everyday!!! :sun: I can't believe it. It is very cold here today at about 10 degrees. But with the sun shining, I just love it. Would love to get a bunch of snow though.
It was 14 degrees when I got up this morning. It went up a bit but it's still very cold and windy. Unfortunately I have to hit the pharmacy a little later otherwise I wouldn't leave the house at all. We haven't had any snow yet but expecting some possibly on Friday.
