I am thinking of adopting a former stray kitten that is likely going to have a front leg amputated sometime in the future, according to a vet after he saw xrays of her leg.

Is there technology for an artificial leg for a cat? Probably very expensive if there is.

How wonderful of your to adopt this special needs kitten.:clap:
There are prosthetic legs for cats, but luckily, cats do just fine without one leg, so she won't need one.
Just enjoy your extra special cat! :)

She will do just fine on three legs. the only specific care she needs is to avoid her getting overweight.  She will be able to jump up as high as ever, but cats tend to land front legs first and she will be missing quite a bit in the landing gear department.

Agree. Many does witness these cats do manage just fine, even quickly adjusting. Jumping, hunting, practically everything.  Just avoid to get her overweight, as Oriental tipsed about.

That is, if she doenst has other damages - if so, it will become more individual.

Here the amputation is NOT a self healed terrible accident.  It will be a amputation done by a vet who is prepared. The best variation of them all.

Good luck!

Check out Ortho Pets. They do amazing things for animals (although the kitty should adapt beautifully)
Sorry, I would link but I'm on my phone. They have a Facebook page too.
