Over the river and through the woods...
Sorry this is so late. We started hanging dry wall first thing this morning, and I kind of forgot about this.

Anyway, our local high school's marching band was chosen to perform in the Inaugural parade tomorrow! There were over 3000 high school bands that applied, I forget how many were chosen but I want to say it was one from each state. I don't care what your politics are, this is a HUGE honor. Those kids will always be able to say "I performed for the President".  I bet those kids are nervous wrecks right about now (not to mention the parents!).

Today's question: Have you ever had the opportunity to perform or present something to anyone "important"? (Important as in, politicians, CEO, someone you wanted to impress).

I was in our town's Bi-Centennial play when I was 18, and the Governor came to see it. He came backstage before the play and wished us all luck. I was SO nervous. I got to give him credit for coming all the way out there to watch a VERY boring play and not fall asleep. Even my mom fell asleep during one of the performances!

Congratulations to your town's high school band.  That is very exciting.
As for your question, I have not done anything like that myself.

When I was at school my home town of Hobart hosted an international tennis tournament.  I trained hard as a ball-girl and ended up at the final which was won by Billie Jean King.  It felt really special.

When I did my internship for college, at the end of the semester, there was a huge party for students, parents, SOs, and the like. Each student got his or her picture taken with the PA Governor at the time (Tom Ridge). He was a nice man and Rick and I thought well of him.
