Safeway in my area is having a decent sale on Friskies canned food- 10 cans for $3.00. There is also no limit (surprisingly)! So there I was a little bit ago at the store, clearing off the shelves LOL! This one couple was behind me looking at cat food, and the man kept shooting glances at Mike and I as we kept shoving the food into our cart!
Finally, unable to stand it anymore, he taps me on the shoulder and says "Good lord Young Lady how many cats do you have?" I stopped what I was doing and told him I rescued privately and I had 24 cats (four new ones have since showed up here) I told him that this was a great buy on food I normally couldn't afford much of. I told him a little bit about my ferals and showed him pictures (yes I have cat pictures in my wallet!) LOL
He went back to his wife, and we continued to load up the cart. He and his wife followed us to the checkout counter and when the gal rang up the total he stepped in front of us, and opened his wallet and PAID for the food! I started to cry right in front of him and I hugged him and told him he was an angel! He laughed and said that I was the angel for helping these cats. Then he told the checker that the stockboys better go back and replenish the shelves!
I am going back later for more now because I can!
He and his wife don't even live in Oregon. They are from New Mexico and stopped on their way out of town to buy food for their 3 cats in their motor home. I have tears in my eyes as I type this right now- it was so unexpected and wonderful!
