Hi.. Ive been feeding a stray cat since she was born.. Shes now 1 year old. But now suddenly shes not eating much and coughing badly. And there is no vet near by.
My question is that how should I give her antibiotic or cough syrup.. She doesnot allow me to touch her with my hands. Help please.

Oh so sorry about your sick cat.  She really does need to be seen by a vet.  Do you know any vets--even large animal vets?  If you describe the situation--including how you're been taking care of a FERAL cat for one year--maybe they'll prescribe an antibiotic or appropriate medication and you can put it in her food or in a pill pocket.

The fact that she is eating less is worrisome.  If the cat is really congested, they can't smell so they don't eat.  If they don't eat, they don't have the strength to fight the infection/illness.

So I would also suggest you heat up really smelly food and give it to her, and try moving the food closer and closer to your home, door steps, so she can get use to you.

If you dont have any vet nearby, you could perhaps find a vet long away who do answers telephone calls, and will give you advice.  - NOT the same as a real check up, but better than random answers on a cat forum...

You could also try to localize if there is some rescue group nearby, or a shelter which works with ferales.  They do have probably access to a vet. OR perhaps have someone with good practical knowledge of the most common cat sickednessess.

Beware shelters you dont know much about - most common shelters will just pts an ferale, especielly if said ferale is sick.

Do she have some warmth place to be in?  Make also sure she has plenty of water to drink - preferably not ice water as it is now in winter.

Good luck!

At times this past summer a couple of the ferals I feed had the same symptoms!I had no idea what to do either! But after a day or two it cleared up and they seemfine now! One big ole tom was sneezing and looked like he had a horrible cold! There's vet here but their so expensive! Anyway a day later he was back to normal! Not at all saying you shouldn't be worried, just saying it may pass in a day or two!
