My vet prescribed Forti Flora for my 8 month old kitten who has frequent runny stool and very smelly stool.  She has been tested for everything and there is no known medical reason so we are trying this.  But it is so expensive and I have heard it contains a pork ingredient which is not good for cats.  Can anyone recommend any other feline probiotic?

Actually, our holistic D.V.M. recommends a human probiotic over ANY pet probiotic. They're manufactured to different standards, and contain live cultures. Our adult cats get an acidophilus+bifidus supplement daily, 10 billion CFU. For your 8 month old kitten, you'd want 5 billion CFU. This is the brand we use, but the one you'd want for your younger kitten:
What are you feeding your kitty?

Cats are obligate carnivores, and especially those with food sensitivities do best on a high protein, no grain, low carbohydrate all canned food diet. You can learn more here: http://www.catinfo.org

It also sounds like he may have IBD. Again - the "treatment" is the same. Probiotics are important - as is diet, and the diet recommendations are basically the same: http://ibdkitties.net

Yes, we had that one too. And I ended up using just a sprinkle of it verses the amount they said to use and that worked well for us. Cats really liked it.

I recently bought;  after reading reviews. Now of course all the cats are doing well : ) and I haven't tried it yet.

I've also read about pumpkin being good for pets for either constipation or runny stools. http://suite101.com/article/pumpkin-for-feline-diarrhea-and-cat-constipation-a192270
