my cat usually eats blue buffalo dry or friskies wet cat food.

I bought 9 Lives wet cat food today, my cat ate a whole can but then threw up alot. She cried when she threw up one time. Some white liquid throw up. Eye lids are 2/3 closed.

I wonder if the cat food was bad. She did overeat.

She sleeping on her chair.  If you read about my other cat who passed away. The nearest vet is 70 miles away, highway and back roads so it takes 2 hours.

Update

"I have been feeding this brand of 9Lives for years. Recently, all 4 of my cats have been vomiting after eating. I have one male cat that is prone to vomit anyway so I didn't think too much of it until January 2, 2013 ...."

30 minutes after i posted the above, i did a quik search to see if any complaints about 9lives::

Well one of my cats was chronically vomiting back in 2010, I created a thread about it here:

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/219122/cat-cant-hold-down-food-constant-vomiting

I received lots of hysteric, scare-mongering advice after telling that I decided to let my cat fast. When I went to my vet he told me letting her fast was a good idea. She is still alive and going strong today.

If she keeps throwing up back to back, then perhaps consider hauling her to a vet. For now just try a simpler, cheaper option like feeding her something else like you said or maybe let her skip a few meals as she has a virus and anything will make her throwup till it passes, just like with humans.

Time is the best healer not medical intervention. Only use medical intervention when you really need it. There is lots of research for humans that shows that those whose get the most medical interventions and rate those treatments most favorably, have a higher mortality rate:

My cat woke up this morning, she seems back to normal. She ate her normal can cat food. So far so good.

I'm guessing it's because she ate the entire can in one sitting. That's a bit much for most kitties' tummies. Just keep an eye on her, but my guess is it was a pigging out situation :D.

Sometimes cats just can't tolerate eating a totally different food. When changing, I have always transitioned very slowly by mixing what the cat is eating with some of the new food, then tapering it off gradually.

My Mia did the same thing on Nine Lives. I tried it because it was cheaper than the Friskies even. I never thought anything about it as she ate it all ( 1/2 can in the morn). About an hour later she vomited several times. I not thinking correctly gave her the other half the next morning (I figured the day before was something else). It happened again. I wont feed it to her anymore. She eats Friskies no problem though (never the fish kind as she vomits it). Its now down to 46 Cents a can at the walmart thats closest to me (20 miles) so I stock up monthly when I there.

It's just a guess but I'd say it was because she ingested the whole can at once. If the vomiting continues, a vet's care might be in order. You can get a lot of advice here but if the vomiting continues nothing can help like a vet's care. I know it's hard for you to get to a vet but keep an eye on the situation. You indicated the puss cat has been eating the brand for years so I'd be concerned if the vomiting continues.
