Hi - new to this site. I have two cats, an orange/white tabby and a tuxedo, both males.  Oliver, the tabby mix, has been with me since he was 6 months (now 7yrs) and the other one, Sugie Bear, was a feral almost one 1yr when I brought him inside, over a year ago.  I still have to keep them separated as they will get into nasty fights if I don’t.  Both cats are super sweet and lovable when apart.  Any advice?

Hi, welcome to TCS!  Have your cats been neutered?  Sometimes that will curtail fighting.  I can understand what you are going through; I am currently having trouble with my male cat and a female that is fairly new to our home.  DH and I really have to watch them closely, because they don't get along at all.

Yes. Both are neutered and Oliver came from the humane society where he was  in the 'cat house',  they roam the room with other cats...that is how I found him.  They only put the well mannered  cats in that room.  When I took him home we had another cat, Niko, that had been here for a year and Oliver and him were the best of friends.  That is why I thought this would not be a problem.  Unfortunately, Niko, died young...very tragic...and I was not up to getting another cat until this one started coming around my house as a baby and I fed him all summer.  My neighbor and I started to get concerned in the Fall as being from Chicago...the winters can get pretty rough.  I broke down and took him to the vet, shots, tests etc...and brought him inside NEVER expecting this!  I've had cats for years w/ other cats, dogs, birds...you name it and have never encountered such a problem!

I hope you have better luck than me.  I always thought a male and female would get along better than 2 males.  My daughter thinks it is because Oliver is very spoiled, which he is!  ugh!
