My kitten is four months old . For the past three days it is continuously having loose motions. She not only makes the area dirty but cant clean herself as well and i have to do it which is a very nasty task . I changed her cat food abruptly so i am wondering if maybe thats the cause of it ? Furthermore she is drinking a lot of water during these three days . Is it because of dehydration? Please give me some advice i am in such a difficult situation . Its all so messy .

Changing food all at once could definitely be the cause, particularly if it was kibble.  If kibble, it needs to be gradually mixed with the old kibble a little at a time, increasing the new kibble each day until finally you are 100% new kibble to avoid tummy issues.

If feeding canned, that's another story.  Has she been checked for worms.  Not sure how long you have had her, but that is always a possibility.  Try to feed her a little canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix, but straight canned pumpkin...maybe 1 teaspoon per meal) to see if that helps.  Also, you could give her some plain yogurt with live cultures...or some probiotics.  That might help, if she has a clean bill of health from the Vet.

Now the excess drinking of water is a little worrisome, because cats do not normally do that unless something is wrong.  I would strongly suggest a visit to the Vet.   Naturally, diarrhea causes dehydration, but most cats still don't drink water excessively to compensate for that.

that it is simply the change of foods and that it clears up sooner than later.

oh thanks a lot ..........I thought drinking alot of water is just normal ,didn't know it could be something  serious ,just due to the change of food . But i'll act upon your advice and take her to the vet ASAP ...
