Hooligan is still doing great! I can't wait to get the egg yolk lecithin in so I wouldn't be so worried about coming home to puke. But, as of yet there has been no puke! He acts, runs and looks great!

The only thing that I find just a tad worrisome is that the other day, Hooligan seemed to be going through the motions like he needed to puke but nothing came out. He has still been eating the Instinct canned chicken and rabbit, and puke hasn't been a problem since.

I am just wondering if any of you's have had witnessed this? A little gagging, motions of puke, but no puke?

Thanks!

Melissa

Glad Hooligan is doing better.

The only thing that comes to mind is he is trying to pass a hairball.  I've seen this in cats at the cat sanctuary where I volunteer.

Ritz had that once about two years ago, a weird almost couging sound.  And they I found I worm on the carpet.  Turns out a cycle of roundworm is when the worm gets in the windpipe area.  Gross I know.  So was the worm on the floor....

I forget--he's strictly indoor, right?  Doesn't eat rodents....

II was thinking it too might be another hairball

He is strictly an indoor cat. He doesn't step a foot outside. The ONLY thing is that I have 3 dogs. One of them he hates, hisses and fights with (she isn't here as frequently as the other two). The other two, he tolerates. But what must one do to pass a worm through from dog to cat? I mean, the dogs only ever go out to pee and poop...for walks and such.

Should I get him checked out just in case?

But, he is a notorious hairball puker, that is why I have been giving him slippery elm with his meal (while I am waiting for the egg yolk lecithin) just so it might help pass it through to the other end.

My poor pumpkin.

I kind of think your kitty is trying to pass a hairball.

It is possible for a dog to give a cat roundworm, but roundworm is usually transmitted via feces; in other words, if your dog pooped in the house and your cat licked the poop or walked through it, and then licked / groomed herself, she could get roundworm.  But it's not likely.

Fingers crossed that the egg yolk lecithin works!
