Has anyone had a kitten or cat with the parvo virus? Vet thinks my fosters may have it.

Four kittens, three have shown signs of "crashing". One with unsteady gait, one with head posturing and the other just lifeless and appeared to be moaning and twitching.

Two bounced back within hours of having sub q fluids.

These four are orphans left in a box. I found a lactating mom willing to take them in. It was that or euthanasia. The people who owned the mother, have not vaccinated their cats.

The kittens were there for 2 weeks. Momma's milk dried up and they weren't gaining very well even when supplemented. The owner has had no experience and we had no foster homes available over the holidays. I brought them to my house with the mother on sunday and was giving them feeding every 3-4 hours. Monday night I had four healthy kittens. 5:00am tuesday, one boy was face down and moaning. The vet hydrated him subq twice that day and he rallied and has been fine since. Yesterday, the one girl tabby was vomiting and had some diarrhea. Not much appetite but seemed better that night. This morning...7am. Two more face down, moaning. Took to different vet, tested poop and it came back positive for the parvovirus. The girl tabby had an  unsteady gait and was acting like something neurological was going on. The boy was simply breathing his last and had acetone smelling breath. He injected fluids into boy with no difference. As of 5, I have picked up three of the four who have seemed to recover. They grey was still barely there and vet gave him another sub q and will euthanize if not perked up by 10:00pm.

I have been crying all day wondering what I did wrong. The little girl tabby still doesnt seem 100%.

Is there anything I can do to help their chances?? I'm just heartbroken :(

I think it might be distemper. It seems that they lump parvo, distemper all into Panleukopenia.

Three were affected and one never got it. Two bounced back fairly quickly with the sub Q fluids but we almost lost Joey. He was nearly euthanized as the vet was sure he could not recover. He looked dead and was barely breathing. He went from playing at midnight to be face down 6 hours later. He seizured as well. One tabby had a very wobble gait with spastic movement.

He was basically comatose for 6 hours and then tried to sit up. Given another subQ treatment and when the vet went to check him at 10:00pm. He was crying and walking about the cage. The vet said it was a miracle...and I agree.

Three are back to being playful and normal but little Joey is still quiet, he walks a bit unsteady but was grooming himself tonight.

Really weird. Never seen anything like it before.

He is cute and looks healthy now,  Feline distemper is very closely related to the parvo virus.  I remember when the current form of parvo was identified in the early eighties and no vaccine was available some vets were using feline distemper vaccine on puppies.  They were hoping it would give some protection until a vaccine was available.
