I had to go out for a while yesterday and when I came home the first thing I did was pick her up. She smelled like vanilla! She didn't when I left. What in the world had she gotten into when I was gone? I looked all over the house and couldn't find anything. It took me about a half hour to figure out where the smell came from. Before I left I gave her a little kiss between her ears and I had just put on vanilla chapstick. :anon: :lol3::lol3::lol3:

Lol that is funny... as I was reading I was trying to think of a scenario why a cat would smell like vanilla. I can imagine you checking all the cupboards and all that... as we usually did, every time we noticed that Tohey smelled unusual. Girl had a habit of climbing into the spice cupboard. :)

I experienced something similar happen with our old dog Murphy... came home once, bent down to say hello, and got a very strong whiff of olive oil! I looked all over the kitchen expecting to find that one of the cats had gotten on the counter and spilled a bottle, but found nothing out of the ordinary. Finally I pointed it out to my mother and she told me that she had just finished putting olive oil on Murphy's ears. :p (She had had ear mites and scratched herself up pretty bad; we got her a prescription from the vet, but the medicine he gave us for her not only didn't kill the mites, she actually seemed to have some kind of allergic reaction to it. Not to mention it stank to high heaven. So my mom had tried using olive oil instead, which ended up working like a charm--soothed her sore ears and killed the mites.)

Aw how cute! :) Quite often I pick up my Pinni and she smells like a toy. Like a clean new toy. Not sure why that is...as we don't have any toy cats hahahahaha

Geez, I wish I would have known about olive oil before spending thousands of dollars on Tabby's ear mites problems. That little girl had one of the worst cases or ear mites her vet had ever seen. To this day, from the mites and the resultant ear infections, Tabby still tilts her head....she thinks that's normal behavior and anything else has her unbalanced.

I always kissed Banshee. Always. And with Mollipop, we'll be back in bed and she'll be in my arms. Before she settles down, she'll reach her face up to mine. I'll lean down and give her a kiss. And then we're both happy and she can tuck her head in my arm and go to sleep.

I love the smell of vanilla.....I should do that with Miss Pop!

DH thinks I'm the only one who kisses her cat!
I kiss my cats too. I even had a cat who would kiss me. Some of you might remember my big boy, Speedboat, orange tabby. I would pick him up and say, "Speedboat, kiss mama" and he would plant one on my chin. Lord have mercy, this reminds me how much I miss that boy. He loved me better than any cat I ever had.

I'm pretty sure the place I bought the lip gloss didn't use the type of vanilla. :)
