In college, I only did one load of clothes per week.  Not the best solution, but it worked.  I spent a whole year (in France) doing all my laundry in the sink.
My college aged daughter does that.  Whatever. I'm not there- I don't have to live with her

I had to pay a bill (that dd neglected to pay- SIGH).  So I was at the cashier's office, and the lady there was telling me that she had just helped a parent and her son (who was a freshman too).  He did NO LAUNDRY for 8 weeks.  Since fall break!  Sheesh..............

Yep, ;only two of us, but I wash a ton of clothes every week. I tell hubby we are either the dirtiest or the cleanest folks in the neighborhood.

Am I the only one who doesn't seperate her clothes? Or even the clothes from other items? :p
No you're not.  I never separate my clothes because for me there is no need to.  I also only do laundry about once a week, if that.  I will do an extra load when I'm washing Autumn's blankie and towels.

I'm single but I swear people are sneaking their laundry in with mine!   I just finished doing 6 loads!

2 loads for pillows

1 load for whites

1 load for my mattress cover (things get tangled inside so I wash it separately)

1 load for my sheets

1 load for darks
"Me too girl!!!"  I just did 4 loads yesterday myself. Sheets, towels, a comforter, & a load of color clothes. I swear, I do more work at home than I do at work!

Saturday afternoon, after work, I took down all the Christmas stuff, & did some cleaning. Yesterday, along w/ all the laundry, I finished the rest of the cleaning, & finally made my black eyed peas & collards, along w/ homemade corn muffins. (better late than never, I guess).
I didn't stop this weekend! So glad I have Mondays off! (-with the exception of one waxing client today, so,mad a little cash,- yay!)

Used to be I did a zillion loads of laundry a week.  4 people- 2 teenagers (that I swear change clothes 2-3 times a day).  And of course I got no help

Then the oldest went to college.  And the youngest decided she wanted to wash all of her own clothes.  SO much nicer.  I don't feel like a maid anymore. Shoot at almost 16 years old you should be able to handle your own clothes!

Oldest came home for break (she's home for a month).  She had a nasty cold when she came back- asked if I would do hers.  Told her that "If you are going to do the whole living away from home thing- and want to be treated like an adult- you have been doing all of your own clothes for the last 16 weeks.  There is NO REASON you can't do it yourself.". I don't mind her doing a zillion loads here.  It's much cheaper than in the dorms ($3 to wash and dry a load of clothes!!!!!!!!!!!)   And I'll be darned- she's been washing all of her own clothes.  Sheets are another story- nobody wants to wash those.  Small steps

The problem is- when the girls want to wash at the same time.  Last night it was WW whatever.  The oldest decided to put laundry in at 8pm.  Youngest had a bunch to wash too.  She came downstairs- washer was already started- and expected her sister to remove all of her WET clothes so she could wash.  In the beginning of a cycle.   SIGH. She yelled "IT'S NOT FAIR!  I HAVE TO GET UP FOR SCHOOL TOMORROW AND SHE DOESN"T HAVE TO GET UP SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO MINE!"

Got mad at the two of them.  Told both of them that the ONLY thing they've done today is wash a few dishes- I put off doing dh's and my stuff, and they had ALL AFTERNOON.  ODD was on her computer all afternoon chatting with her friend that is a boy.  Youngest sat in her bed- took a nap and watched TV shows on her iPod.

You are a nice Mom.
Mine made me start doing my own in Middle School!  But when we were all home there would be 5 kids in the house; so definitely some fights over the washing machine!  I think I used to get away with 2 loads back then.  Not counting sheets.  I dont know how parents have patience with teenagers.  Guess I'll find out in a few years!
No ironing here, either.  Around our hose, clothing is either wash and wear, or wash and donate to charity.

I hardly iron!  Maybe twice a year...about how often I dress up.  Its wash and wear or throw it back in the dryer to dewrinkle if needed!  My Gram used to iron everything.  Right down to undies.  LOL

Had I known just how much easier life would be- I would have had them doing it way before high school.  No more of the "You put (insert item of clothing here) into the dryer.  It's NOT supposed to go there!

We didn't have the HE machine back then either.  The HE one uses such little water, that I don't feel quite so bad when there's not a full load.  But the girls stuff it so full of clothes that it's usually a very full load.

Teenagers grow on you
I do kind of miss the itty-bitty stage of life (and that's why I volunteer in toddler nursery on Sundays).  But let me tell you- an hour with the little ones every  week gives me my fill

I have (I think) 2 irons somewhere in the house - they get used only in an emergency and we don't have those very often.

I used to separate clothes but have stopped doing that. I use cold water most of the time so it all works out ok. Of course towels get washed separately, but aside from that I don't have a need to separate anything. I have a big comforter that needs to go to the laundromat because it's too big to fit in the washing machine (one of the things I've been putting off doing for too long)
