I'm single but I swear people are sneaking their laundry in with mine!   I just finished doing 6 loads!

2 loads for pillows

1 load for whites

1 load for my mattress cover (things get tangled inside so I wash it separately)

1 load for my sheets

1 load for darks

The better question....is where does it go after it hits the washer.  Put two socks in...only one comes out.

Try pinning them together with a safety pin.

I bet you have a bunch of socks and smaller items under the drum.  You should check because it can actually end up breaking the washing machine.

I buy all white socks, usually 4  packs of 8.  I figure one day I will go on a hunt for all stray socks, throw them in a box and I wont have to buy socks for 10 years, lol

I just finished spending over an hour sorting laundry. I didn't even get it all done but I am done for tonight, my back is killing me. My daughter has SO much clothes that people gave us (a huge tote of 3-6 months, a huge tote of 6-12 months and 2 huge totes of 12 months +, plus her dresser is full of 0-3 month and there is a bunch of stuff hung up) and I am trying to organize it all. She got a lot of clothes for Christmas too. I appreciate all the gifts/hand me downs, but I am running out of room to put it all.

Sometimes I think someone sneaks in and wears our clothes when we are asleep. Dh s almost like having a teenager. He will pick up something, decide he does not want to wear it and throw it down. At different times I will have mountains of socks, then there will be none.

I hear you. It's just Rick and me and honestly, the laundry around here is crazy. I did laundry on Wednesday (one load), Friday (two loads), yesterday (two loads) and today (three loads).

Today's wash was a load of bed linens (changed the bed this morning), followed by a load of towels and washcloths, followed by a load of kitty things: all their blankets, the pillowcases to their pillows, and the large pillow with its pillowcase that we keep on the bay window in the living room. The cats' things alone is a full load! And I wash their stuff once every two weeks.

Oh you dont want to see the love seat in my living room!  Actually; you almost cant!  But I know where my pile comes from...  It doesn't help that my son has recently changed sizes so his things are a mixture of items to pack away and new things.  Every now and then I'll go into the living room and the mountain on the love seat will be moving.  I'm used to cat hair on my clothing; but Noodles' fur is fine and sticks to your face awful when she sheds on a bath towel and I miss that when folding.  We try to keep a blanket over what I need to fold.  It seems like laundry and folding is the thing I never truly complete.  I even enjoy the folding now and then when the kids are asleep and I've got a good movie or TV show on.  But not when they are up!  No one warned me how hard it is to fold things with a "helper."
I need to take advantage of that and assign wash cloth folding or something.

I don't separate my clothes by color/fabric/etc. (unless I just got a new red t-shirt :tongue2:). I do separate my clothes from my towels because the towels make my clothes fuzzy. But, nope, I've never separated clothes and I've never had a problem with it.

But, yeah, laundry can pile up so quickly! Right now I'm out of socks. . .I don't know what I'll do tomorrow :lol3:.There are probably about 3 loads of dirty laundry waiting for me. I sometimes leave laundry in the dryer for days, but once it's out of the dryer I do fold it and put it away immediately, or the cats will find a way to make sure I need to redo that load ;).

I usually go all whites, then color shirts, color pants/shorts, pillow cases and top sheet, fitted sheet alone, and all towels. Then I have a day for just blankets.

The big quilts/bed spreads anything heavy , I take them to laundrymat put them all in different machines and go do some shopping or flirt with women lol.

Finally I go back to laundrymat and throw them in different dryers and flirt with women their. Women know guys there are single, I usually get dryer

sheets and soap sometime. lol

It's ridiculous how much laundry the two of us have. I try to do one load every day to keep on top of it, but that doesn't always work.

Ha! You remind me of me, lol.

Being English l used to insist on ironing everything, including the sheets. lt's one part of embracing North American society that l have willingly embraced - if it isn't wrinkled, it doesn't get ironed. l'd have piles of stuff waiting to be ironed. Now l fluff and fold it right at the dryer and if anything needs ironed before use, it gets done by the each.

No ironing here, either.  Around our hose, clothing is either wash and wear, or wash and donate to charity.

In college, I only did one load of clothes per week.  Not the best solution, but it worked.  I spent a whole year (in France) doing all my laundry in the sink.

Haha, me too. I think I have an iron. . .maybe. . .if I do it's only because I used to be into iron-on patches. But I don't know where it is if I do have one.

Used to be I did a zillion loads of laundry a week.  4 people- 2 teenagers (that I swear change clothes 2-3 times a day).  And of course I got no help

Then the oldest went to college.  And the youngest decided she wanted to wash all of her own clothes.  SO much nicer.  I don't feel like a maid anymore. Shoot at almost 16 years old you should be able to handle your own clothes!

Oldest came home for break (she's home for a month).  She had a nasty cold when she came back- asked if I would do hers.  Told her that "If you are going to do the whole living away from home thing- and want to be treated like an adult- you have been doing all of your own clothes for the last 16 weeks.  There is NO REASON you can't do it yourself.". I don't mind her doing a zillion loads here.  It's much cheaper than in the dorms ($3 to wash and dry a load of clothes!!!!!!!!!!!)   And I'll be darned- she's been washing all of her own clothes.  Sheets are another story- nobody wants to wash those.  Small steps

The problem is- when the girls want to wash at the same time.  Last night it was WW whatever.  The oldest decided to put laundry in at 8pm.  Youngest had a bunch to wash too.  She came downstairs- washer was already started- and expected her sister to remove all of her WET clothes so she could wash.  In the beginning of a cycle.   SIGH. She yelled "IT'S NOT FAIR!  I HAVE TO GET UP FOR SCHOOL TOMORROW AND SHE DOESN"T HAVE TO GET UP SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO MINE!"

Got mad at the two of them.  Told both of them that the ONLY thing they've done today is wash a few dishes- I put off doing dh's and my stuff, and they had ALL AFTERNOON.  ODD was on her computer all afternoon chatting with her friend that is a boy.  Youngest sat in her bed- took a nap and watched TV shows on her iPod.
