I follow a blog about frugality, and the lady posted photos of her baking escapades. I noticed a bag of suet mix in the background of one photo, but I couldn't see the brand name. It appears to come in a bag, such as 5lb of flour does in the U.S. I searched Amazon, but only soem Australian brand, which seemes to be in packets (not what I want) is offered there. I have nothing against Australia, but in my experience, the postage is very, very expensive! (Also, it appears to be in small packets.)
I think it would make wonderful pastry! In the U.S., we only seem to encounter suet when used in wild bird feeding. I know you sometimes can buy the raw stuff in the store (my Mother was British, and I remember seeing her buy it), but I'd like the powdered type. I had never known there was a mix for it, until yesterday!
My question is: do you know any brand names, so I can search online for it, and also, if it's available in stores in the U.S.? Thank you!
