I don't have a membership now, but a former employer gave us all Sam's Club cards as a perk.  I loved it.  I don't know specifically about how much cat food they have to offer or the prices compared to other stores.  But I did find a lot of great buys on all kinds of things there.

It is like every where else. They have some better prices, but not everything. Their meats are very good and priced good. My problem is most things are in bulk and there are only two in our household so I don't need the large jars and boxes of stuff. But our daughter pays our membership every year because she thinks it gets us in the car and away from home for awhile. We have to drive about and hour and fifteen minutes to the nearest one.

That doesn't really help

The prices aren't that much cheaper than Walmart for normal stuff. They frequently have nicer things than I could normally afford for the same price as the lesser quality stuff elsewhere, so that's a good perk, and some things you can buy in bulk and save, but otherwise not really much cheaper, IMO. Good for finding high-end stuff at regular prices and buying jumbo-sized containers of everything, not so good for rock-bottom pricing.

Food and litter:
Purina Cat Chow is around $12.50 for an 18.5-pound bag. They have an almost-comparable store brand for about a dollar less but I don't buy it because it has BHA/BHT. Meow Mix is about the same price but I don't buy that either. A box of 48 5.5-ounce cans of Friskies is around $20, I think it comes to 42 or 43 cents a can which is a decent price.

They sell a 40-pound bag of Fresh Step Scoopable for around $14.50, it's a good price but I hate the scent :tongue2:. Non-clumping Tidy Cats for around $7.50 for 50 pounds--not a great price, but not bad. A store-brand clumping litter for about $11.50 for 40-ish pounds, but it's very dusty. I don't buy any normal pet supplies at Sam's. My mom buys the canned Friskies but I prefer the 13-ounce cans.

Decent prices on meat, which I'm taking advantage of for raw feeding. Chicken thighs (unenhanced!), pork loin, beef roasts, leg of lamb, all pretty good prices (if you have somewhere to put a 20-pound beef roast :lol3:). I think the ground beef prices are pretty good but I never buy ground beef so I have no point of reference. And it's a huge package (20 pounds?).

Cleaning supplies: OK prices, if you want a whole gallon!

Processed foods: probably the most savings here. But those kinds of foods are expensive luxuries anyway, and seeing the deals might make you buy stuff you wouldn't normally buy, so you could end up spending more in the long run.

Fruit/veggies: good prices, but are you really going to eat 10 pounds of apples before they spoil? Be honest with yourself!

Can you tell I spend a lot of time there? LOL!

Bottom line: if you can hitch a ride with a friend who has a membership, it might be a worthwhile trip. To get a membership with the thought of saving a lot on regular stuff, probably not worth it.

We got a membership last year because they had a fantastic price on a swing set with good reviews.  It was worth the $40 membership just for that.  But we've only shopped in the store maybe 3 times since then.  I only get us things that we do use a lot of.  It's a bit out of the way for us to go there; so that doesn't help.  I haven't looked at litter prices to be honest; and I feed a petsmart brand food.  I did order diapers once; but since that time they haven't had the ones I use online.  My mother has a membership; so I don't think I'll be renewing ours.

I had a membership once, years ago, when they first opened up in Traverse City, Michigan...

Back then, I found that the prices really weren't that much better than the local Meijer, Prevo's (now Glen's Market), Tom's Food Market, and Oleson's Food Stores.  As well as Walmart.  And buying in bulk really didn't work so well for a two-person household.

If you like to buy normal sized items Walmart prices are just as low. If you like to stock up in bulk then try Sam's club. Since you have a lot of pets I think Sam's club is a good idea for you.

But. . .I have a lot of pets and I find Sam's useless for that purpose since I don't use any of the pet products they have. The only "pet supplies" I buy there are meat (but not everybody feeds raw) and white vinegar for cleaning. If you used those products, I guess, but the pet supply prices really aren't much lower than Walmart's.

But since you have so many people, too, I'm sure you can find something to buy! The price for their store brand toilet paper is pretty good. Not paper towels though. . .
