My BIL is an MIS-weenie in a company. They only use their computers/laptops for about 3 years, then they have to get new ones. As a result, there are always a lot of electronics around. He's allowed to use anything he wants....all he need do is ask. Well, the other night he asked me if I wanted a used laptop. Ummmmm, yeah! He put one together for my sister and that thing rocks.
He's working on it now. It's a 14-inch laptop, so it's not very big, and it's three years old. But he's reformatting it with Windows 7 Professional and then I will put the programs on it that I'll want to use. Nothing is "stolen" or anything like that; the OS is good for that laptop. I even have my personal Office software good on 3 computers and so far, I've only put it on two, so I'm still good to go. Even my virus program (I use Kaspersky Pure) is good for 3 computers, so I can install it on my laptop. I'll be able to get online with it, too. (I just love the idea of sitting in bed at night under the electric blanket and surfing....yes, I'm a wuss and I don't like being cold.) It's fairly fast; I'm not sure what all is in it, but he told me I won't have any trouble with it.
I think it's wonderful of him to do that for me. He's known that I've wanted a laptop and, while this isn't the biggest one around, it will certainly do the job for me! Oh, and that external hard drive that he "loaned" to me when I needed to transfer my hard drive data a couple weeks ago? It's now mine....he says he has several and doesn't need it. So I am now the proud owner of a used 500 GB external drive!
I surely have the best BIL in the world! I think I'll keep him!
